y/n sat on her bed, reading a spell book and humming quietly to herself. she had written her mother not too long ago and told her about the ball, asking her to find her the perfect dress to wear.

the girl honestly didn't expect draco to ask her to the dance, she already knew that they would be going together. some time passed and everything was silent until their was a soft knock at her dorm door. she didn't have any idea who would be knocking since her friends and boyfriend usually just walk in.

she stood up, her sock covered feet hitting the cold wooden floor. she walked to the door and opened it, revealing a smiling draco who held a single red rose. y/n laughed gently before he spoke up, "i have come with a question in mind."

"oh really? and what might that question be?" she teased.

"would you, y/n y/m/n y/l/n, accompany me to the yule ball and make me the luckiest man there?" he held out the rose and y/n grabbed it before kissing his cheek.

"i'd be absolutely honored, draco lucius malfoy."

y/n and marley excitedly got ready together, giggling and conversing amongst themselves. pansy threw the two a glare every once in awhile as she got ready on the other side of the room.

marley wore a dark green dress that stopped at her feet with rhinestones and gems covering the front. her blonde hair was curled and left down and light makeup covered her porcelain face.

the dress y/n's mother had sent her was absolutely perfect. it was a beautiful emerald green color and hugged her body perfectly. it stopped right above her feet and a slit could be seen on the left side. it wasn't too fancy, but it was utterly quintessential.

her y/h/c hair was curled and put into a large bun, pieces in the front were left down to frame her face. the only makeup she wore was blush, mascara and a small coat of lipgloss. she didn't want to stick out too much.

both of the girls wore flats instead of heels, knowing they would be dancing frequently.

"y/n you look stunning! draco probably won't be too pleased when all eyes are on you." marley giggled as she tucked a curl behind her ear.

"oh please, aliyah isn't going to be happy when all eyes are on her girl." marley rolled her eyes playfully, a blush rising to her cheeks.

they checked the clock and realized that the ball was about to begin so they quickly finished up and left their room. draco would be waiting for her outside of the great hall and she made sure she hadn't seen him while she was getting ready, she wanted her outfit to surprise him.

the two girls quickly ran down the corridors towards the great hall and y/n saw draco standing by the doors with his hands in his pockets. he wore black dress pants, black shoes, a white button up shirt, and a black dress robe. his hair was neatly done yet it still looked incredibly soft.

"draco." she said shyly as she approached him.

he looked up, eyes going wide, "y/n, my god, you look absolutely breath taking."

she blushed at his words, "thank you, my love. you look fantastic."

he bowed lightly causing a small laugh to come from her parted lips. he grabbed her hand, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek and led her into the great hall. marley was right, several eyes did turn towards the couple as they walked in. y/n couldn't contain her wide smile as people stared.

cedric walked over to them once they reached the bottom of the stairs, "wow, you look beautiful as always."

"watch it, diggory." draco said, wrapping his arm around y/n's waist.

cedric laughed, "don't worry, malfoy. i don't look at her that way. besides, i'm here with my date."

they talked a bit more before parting ways. draco couldn't take his eyes off of his girl. she looked so gorgeous and he couldn't believe that he was the one to have her on his arm. he thought about what harry said a lot, and he knew what he said was true. she did deserve better and he hoped one day he would be able to give her all she could ever want.

they soon watched as all four contestants danced around in the middle of the room. next dumbledore and mcgonagall stepped on to the floor and then other students soon piled on to dance with the others.

"may i have this dance?" draco asked her, a small smile on his face.

"you may." she replied. she took his hand and danced around elegantly with him after stepping onto the dance floor.

the music soon turned faster as a band began to play and y/n and draco danced for what felt like hours. they found aliyah and marley and danced with them for awhile, the dancing turning to more vulgar moves. while y/n had her back pressed to draco she felt his hand turn her face to look at him. he pressed a kiss to her lips, a rougher one, not like the others they had shared.

after the group began to get tired, the four of them went to sit at a beautifully decorated table. draco and aliyah had gone to get the other two some pumpkin juice while y/n and marley sat and waited for them.

"he is so in love with you." marley said through a large smile.

"what makes you say that?" y/n said whilst her cheeks began to burn.

"it's so obvious. he's so happy when he's with you and he looks at you like you're the only person in the room. you've changed him, y/n."

y/n's eyes watched the door when draco and aliyah walked through it. they were so young but she knew that she loved him too. he was a drug to her, and he always made her feel so high when they were together. four years ago if someone would have told her draco malfoy would be the one for her, she would have laughed in their face. but now as she watched him walk down the stairs, face flushed from dancing so much and his black dress robe off leaving him simply in his long sleeved white shirt, she knew that she would never leave him.

"here you are, princess." he said as he handed her a goblet. he sat next to her, putting his right leg over his left and wrapped his left arm around her shoulder. she accepted the drink gratefully and took a small sip, her lips leaving a small sparkling stain from the small amount of lipgloss she still had on.

they sat for a while longer before y/n saw hermione walk away from ron and harry quickly, not looking back. she could tell from her annoyed walk that she was upset and decided she would go and see if she were alright.

"excuse me." y/n said as she sat her goblet on the table behind her. she stood up and followed hermione out of the doors.

hermione was sat on a stair, pulling her purple dress up to remove her shoes. she was crying and placed her face in her hands. y/n walked over cautiously, not wanting to scare the upset girl.

"hermione? are you alright?"

she sat down next to the crying girl slowly and hermione picked her head up, "no. it's ron. it's like he never wants me to have a good time or enjoy myself. it's annoying! he's completely spoiled this evening."

y/n placed a soft hand on her shoulder, "i'm sorry. i know what that must feel like. but if it's any consolation, you truly do look incredible tonight. i could tell by viktors face that he felt like the luckiest guy ever."

hermione laughed lightly, wiping her teary eyes, "thank you y/n. i could say the same for draco. he couldn't take his eyes off of you the whole evening."

y/n also laughed, "i know."

"i'm sorry for our bad past. i know you must think i'm a terrible person. i miss talking to you. it was nice actually having a girl around." hermione sighed.

y/n shook her head, "i don't think you're a bad person. i think my boyfriend is just an idiot."

both of the girls giggled and hermione rested her head on y/n's shoulder. they sat for awhile before saying good night and heading back to their dorm rooms.
