y/n woke up in the hospital wing. marley and blaise were sat on either side of her and she sat up slowly, trying to ease into the excruciating pain that came from her head.

"thank god, you're awake." marley said, sparking blaises attention as well.

"what happened? where's draco?" y/n asked as she looked around.

marley sent blaise a sad look before turning back to y/n, "you fell unconscious and hit your head on a rock outside. harry carried you in. as for draco, well, no one knows where he has run off too."

the memories from the day before began to flood in and y/n bit her bottom lip to stop herself from breaking down again.

"where's harry?" she asked as she began to stand up.

"you need to stay put, y/n. you need your rest." blaise said as he tried to help her lay back down.

she shook her head, "i'm okay, i promise. i need to go find harry."

marley and blaise watched her sadly and she quickly made her way into the corridors, keeping a hand to the back of her head. she soon found hermione and they ran to each other, embracing into a gigantic hug.

"i'm so happy you're okay." hermione said into her neck.

"yeah, i'm okay." y/n smiled as they pulled away, "have you seen harry?"

"he's up in the astronomy tower. come, we can go there now."

they walked together and climbed the stairs. harry was stood at the railing and turned around when he heard footsteps approach. he smiled widely at y/n, wrapping his hands around her waist.

"you're okay!" he said as he held her tightly.

"i'm okay. are you?" she asked and harry looked at her solemnly. he nodded his head slowly and the three turned back to look out at the view.

"do you think he would've done it? draco? if i hadn't been there?" y/n asked after a period of silence.

"no." harry said honestly, "no, he was lowering his wand before he even knew you were there."

"he doesn't want to do this, harry. he's only doing it because he's afraid." y/n said softly as she stared out towards the black lake, "he thought he didn't have another choice. we had planned to just run as far away from here as possible but he was scared that voldemort would find him wherever we ended up."

"he loves you so much, y/n. he's going to find you again." hermione said as she rested a hand on her back.

y/n sighed and soon heard a voice from behind her.

"oh god, i was so worried." ron said as he pulled her into yet another hug, kissing the top of her head. she smiled at him and pulled away. they turned around and sat on some stairs behind them, y/n's head resting on his shoulder.

harry handed a necklace to hermione. ron had told y/n about their hunt for horcrux's so they could destroy voldemort for good and she was all for it.

"it's fake." harry said, "open it."

"to the dark lord. i know i will be dead long before you read this, but i want you to know that it was i who discovered your secret. i have stolen the real horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as i can. i face death in the hope that when you meet your match, you will be mortal once more. r. a. b." hermione read, "r. a. b?"

"don't know." harry said, "but whoever they are, they have the real horcrux. which means it was all a waste. all of it."

y/n could barely focus on the conversation going on around her. she couldn't stop thinking about draco, wondering where he was and if he was okay.

"i've got to finish whatever dumbledore started. and i don't know where that'll lead me, but i'll let you all know where i am when i can." harry said as the wind blew through his hair.

"i've always admired your courage, harry." hermione said, "but sometimes, you can be really thick. you don't really think you're going to be able to find all those horcrux's by yourself, do you? you need us, harry."

y/n stood and grabbed ron's hand, pulling him up as well. she walked up next to harry and ron walked up next to hermione.

"he has the only thing in my life that's worth living for. you're mad if you think i'm not coming to kick voldemort's arse." y/n said as she smiled at harry, causing him to smile back.

"i never realized how beautiful this place was." harry said after awhile. they four of them let their eyes land on dumbledore's phoenix as it flew gracefully through the air.

the four stood for awhile longer until y/n's headache grew worse, making her feel faint and dizzy. she excused herself, making her way back to the common room. when she arrived she walked up the stairs, not towards her room, to dracos.

the room was empty, everyone had been out doing who knows what. all of dracos stuff still sat in his area of the room. y/n picked up one of his shirts, holding it tightly to her chest. the smell of his cologne lingered strongly on the fabric and she placed the oversized shirt on top of her own.

she sat on his bed, it had never been as cold as it felt in that moment. all she wanted to do was go back to a year ago, a time where she could've taken the boy and disappeared without a trace. she didn't want this for him and she knew he didn't want this either.

the words he spoke to dumbledore stung her chest, making her think he joined voldemort merely to save her life. she felt like a burden and she hated feeling like this was all her fault. maybe it was, but there was simply nothing she could do about it now.

she laid back on his bed, staring up at the ceiling. a tear rolled down her cheek and landed on the soft pillow below her head. she felt numb and scared. all she wanted was for him to be there with her.

the door opened slowly and blaise walked in, softly shutting the door behind him. "i thought i saw you come up here." he said quietly.

y/n looked at him as another tear rolled down her face, "blaise, i'm scared."

he rushed to her, holding her as she laid her head on his chest. the tears fell from her eyes, she couldn't seem to stop crying anymore.

"draco is one of the strongest people i have ever had the pleasure of knowing. he's not out there fighting with voldemort, he's out there fighting for you." the boy said softly as he rested his chin on the girls head.

"what if i never see him again?" she said, wiping some tears away from her face.

"you will." he began, "i have never seen love more true than yours. you belong together and you'll be reunited once again."
