the group of seven flew through the skies quickly on the backs of thestrals. y/n had never felt so alive and she closed her eyes as the wind blew through her hair. she loved flying and would do it every day if she could.

the ride took hours and they hadn't arrived in london until after nightfall. the air began to grow colder and a storm could be seen forming over head.

they arrived at the ministry of magic and they all ran quickly through the halls and took an elevator up to the department of mysteries. the walls were covered in a glossy black brick and only one door could be seen at the end. they walked down the hallway slowly, their breathing increasing with every step they took.

y/n held her wand in her hand tightly, ready to use it whenever she needed to. she walked next to neville who looked quite scared and she grabbed his hand to reassure him that he would be alright. he looked at her and smiled.

they approached the door and harry opened it slowly. y/n looked around at her surroundings in awe, thousands of crystal orbs filled the large room. it was eerily quiet and they had to use their wands as their only source of light.

they walked down rows slowly, until neville noticed an orb with harry's name on it. y/n watched harry closely as he grabbed it. it began to speak, "the one with the power to vanquish the dark lord approaches. and the dark lord shall mark him as his equal, but he shall have power the dark lord knows not. for neither can live while the other survives."

y/n took a deep breath and looked at hermione who looked just as confused as she did. their attention was quickly turned to a figure approaching them and they were all quick to draw their wands.

the person was dressed in all black, the outfit similar to the ones from the quidditch world cup.

"where's sirius?" harry asked as he stepped in the front of everyone. ron stood in front of y/n, his arm out in front of her.

"you know, you really should learn to tell the difference between dreams and reality."

the person used their wand to remove their mask and y/n grew scared when she noticed who it was. "lucius?" she said quietly.

he turned and looked at her, "y/n, how's my boy doing?"

y/n didn't know what to say. she stared at him with her eyes wide and gripped onto ron's arm.

lucius continued, "you saw only what the dark lord wanted you to see. now, hand me the prophecy."

"if you do anything to us, i'll break it." harry spat, eyeing the blonde man up and down.

laughter came from behind lucius and the one and only bellatrix lestrange stepped out from behind him. y/n had also recognized her. she was draco's aunt. "he knows how to play. itty, bitty, baby. potter."

"bellatrix, have i introduced you to draco's little girlfriend yet?" lucius asked with a smirk.

bellatrix smiled and looked between all of the girls, "ah, which one is it?"

lucius pointed a long finger at y/n. she knew she couldn't cower down so she held her head high, "bellatrix."

"beautiful. as it should be." bellatrix smiled.

lucius turned his head to continue to speak to harry, "all we want is that prophecy. prophecies can only be retrieved by those whom they are made. which is lucky for you, really."

more masked figures stepped out from the shelves and the students formed a small circle, raising their wands.

"i've waited 14 years," harry said, "i guess i can wait a little longer. now! stupefy!"

they all yelled out spells and the figures disappeared into black balls of smoke. they ran quickly, trying to make their way to the door so they could leave. y/n yelled out various spells as death eaters got in her way. they had all split up and she ran with ginny, careful not to trip or stumble over her feet.

soon, the group ran into each other and y/n was happy to see that no one had been left behind. "what do we do?" she asked out of breath.

before anyone could answer, a death eater was coming right towards them. ginny yelled out a spell, and with doing so all of the crystal orbs began to fall and shatter on the ground below.

"run, get back to the door!" harry yelled. y/n didn't need to hear his words twice. she turned and ran as fast as she possibly could, turning her head frequently to make sure everyone was still behind her. they reached the door, but as soon as it was opened they all fell down onto the dusty ground below.

y/n stood up, wiping the dirt from her clothing, "department of mysteries. they got that part right, didn't they?"

"you're telling me." ron muttered out.

the room was empty, the only thing noticeable was a large arch in the middle. it looked like a portal and y/n and the others approached it cautiously.

"get behind me!" harry yelled as he stuck his wand into the air. they stood behind him with their wands also out as they watched trails of black smoke go over their heads. before y/n even knew what was happening she was stood with bellatrix's hand wrapped firmly around her neck, her wand in her face.

the others were held by death eaters too and harry stood by the archway, not knowing what to do. y/n struggled to break free from bellatrix's tight hold but it was no use, there was no way the woman was going to let her go.

lucius approached harry, "did you actually believe, or were you truly naive enough to think, that children stood a chance against us? i'll make this simple for you, potter. give me the prophecy now, or watch your friends die."

y/n began to shake lightly but there was absolutely no way she was going to let the death eaters know she was afraid. she watched the father of the boy she loved step closer to harry before shouting out, "don't give it to him, harry!"

lucius turned his head to her direction slowly, "y/n. it'd be a pity if draco lost the only thing he cared about. don't make me angry."

she grew silent and the hold around her neck grew tighter. she couldn't stop thinking about draco and it desperately made her want to cry. harry handed the orb to lucius and just after, sirius approached the two, "get away from my godson."
