after hearing that neville had found the room of requirement the students were quick to begin practicing. y/n couldn't contain the excitement she had and she was always early so she could be one of the first ones in the room.

other students had been quite weary of her, especially since everyone knew she was dating the slytherin prince, but she quickly showed them that she was merely just another student that wanted to actually learn how to use magic.

after awhile, not only had filch and umbridge become suspicious of the class, so had draco. he questioned her every time she left and every time she returned to the common room. y/n didn't like lying to him, but she knew not telling him was for the best.

the class went on for many days and y/n was absolutely flourishing. she had been able to exceed in almost every spell harry taught and he was more than impressed. "y/n, you're a natural!" he would say in applause.

when she had been paired up with fred to practice in front of the many other students, she walked into the middle confidently.

"don't worry, princess. i'll go easy on you." he teased with a smirk and a wink.

"oh please, don't hold back." she said as she smirked as well.

they walked away from each other and then turned, facing the other. he still held his smirk as he began to raise his wand but y/n was much faster than he was.

"stupefy." she called out as she pointed her wand at him. he flew backwards and landed on his back. george walked up to her and gave her a high five as he laughed at his twin brother.

after each class, the students would sneak out of another door as quietly as they could so they wouldn't get caught by filch. it was completely nerve racking but would also give y/n a large rush of adrenaline. she never really minded getting in trouble before, but with umbridge in charge she wanted to stay as far away from her as she could.

umbridge had even taken y/n in for questioning, but she quickly shut down any questions she had been asked. even if she wasn't apart of the secret class, she would never tell umbridge and give her the satisfaction of getting the others into trouble.

y/n eventually even told marley about the class and she wanted to join as well. the girl couldn't think of anything better than having her best friend with her while they practiced spells. she had asked harry and it took him a little to say yes, mainly because he feared that marley would say something to someone, but he soon warmed up to it and wanted to help any student that would let him.

more days passed and everything seemed to be going smoothly. y/n and harry helped marley on spells she couldn't quite figure out and everyone else in the class seemed to be doing incredibly well also.

y/n had spent so much time in class that she hardly even saw draco throughout the days unless they were in class. he seemed upset with her, and with good reason. it hurt her to not be able to tell him such a big secret.

the holidays came around and y/n had began to walk back to her dorm with marley at her side. they talked about class and how well they had both done. they were truly exceeding harry's expectations and he even asked them if they were sure they even needed to take the class.

"what are your plans for the holidays?" marley asked as they walked into the common room.

"i'm not sure, i just know that i'll be more than happy when i can finally get out of this place." y/n said through a laugh. she didn't see draco or his friends on the sofa and in a way this almost pleased her. she didn't have the energy to go through another fight with the blonde boy about whether or not she was cheating on him.

they sat together in the common room and just talked about different things. in fact, y/n had been so caught up in speaking to marley that she didn't even see her boyfriend walk into the room. he approached her, "can i speak with you for a moment?"

y/n nodded her head, "of course."

she stood up from her seat after telling marley she would be right back and followed draco up the stairs towards his room. the dorm was empty and he opened the door to let her walk in first, shutting and locking the door behind him.

"are you going to tell me why you've been so secretive now?" he asked as he turned towards her.

y/n sighed as she sat on his bed, "i told you. i've been spending all of my time with marley in the library to study for our owls."

"you're lying. you weren't in there today or yesterday, or the day before, or the day before that."

"so what, you're following me now?" y/n said as she scoffed.

"yeah, y/n, i am! when you tell me you're in one place and you end up not being there i'm going to say something to you. if i didn't know any better, i'd think you were with potter helping with that stupid club he's made."

y/n grew silent, she didn't even know what to say. "i'm sorry. i just,"

he scoffed as he threw his arms up, "so you are! and you lied to me about it."

y/n stood up, reaching her hand out towards him but he quickly smacked it away, "draco, please just listen to me."

"listen to you? i have been listening to you and you've been lying straight to my face."

"it's not like that, draco. i just couldn't risk the class being exposed,"

"what are you saying!" he yelled as he cut her off, "i'm your boyfriend! what the fuck do you expect me to think when you're out for hours a day doing who knows what? if you would have just told me, maybe we could have figured this out together."

"figured what out together? look, all i wanted to do was learn how to actually use magic and i cant do that with umbridge around! so yeah, draco, i didn't say anything."

he took an angry breath, "well then i suppose me helping umbridge bring the class to light won't make you feel any better, now will it?"

y/n took a step back from him. she was in complete shock and disbelief, "you're helping her?"

"at least i'm not lying about it."

y/n couldn't wipe the disgust from her face. she couldn't believe that he would be on umbridges side, let alone help her.

"i'll see you after the holiday." she said as she turned towards the door, quickly unlocking it and stepping out. she slammed the door behind her, not caring if this caused unwanted attention from others in the dorms.
