the wrong choice // d.l.m.

y/n and draco walked hand in hand down towards where the second competition would take place. they were wrapped up in warm clothing due to the cold weather.

"y/n! any bets?" george said as he approached her.

she shook her head and laughed, "no. i'm rooting for all of them."

"righty then." fred said as he approached her as well.

the couple walked down towards boats that would be taking them deeper into the lake. she wasn't very pleased, knowing that creatures she couldn't even name lived down there. the boat took off after marley, aliyah, and a few other students joined them. y/n held dracos hand tightly, looking down into the dark water, "gross."

the arrived to three large wall less buildings that stuck out of the water and quickly got off of the boats. y/n was happy to get off of the boats and be not so close to the water.

"welcome to the second task. last night, something was stolen from each of our champions. a treasure of sorts. these four treasures, one for each champion, now lie on the bottom of the black lake. in order to win, each champion need only find their treasure and return to the surface."

y/n watched as harry, viktor, cedric and fleur lined up at the front. she leaned into draco who had a firm hand wrapped around her. she was nervous for the champions, but also incredibly happy she wasn't the one diving into the water.

"simple enough, except for this. they will have but one hour to do so, and one hour only. after that, they'll be on their own. no magic will save them. you may begin at the sound of the cannon."

right after these words filch let the cannon fly, slightly startling everyone. the four jumped into the water and right after, the wind seemed to blow harder.

the time went by terribly slow and y/n took shallow breaths. she didn't like the fact that she wasn't able to see the contestants. it made her incredibly nervous.

fleur soon rose to the surface, not holding anything. it was announced that she would no longer be able to participate in the task and y/n wondered what belonged to her at the bottom of the lake.

not long after, cedric swam to the top, cho floating up with him. y/n clapped but soon realized that whomever was down there for fleur would be stuck.

next was viktor who held hermione. he pumped his fist into the air, like he usually did. the time began to tick by, the hour almost up. y/n held onto draco tightly after harry hadn't come up yet. the clock sang once the hour was up and y/n brought her hand to her mouth, eyes wide. ron and fleurs little sister broke from the surface but there was still no trace of harry.

harry soon flung onto the surface where everyone stood and y/n screamed for him as loud as she could. everyone cheered and clapped wildly, all except for draco who just held a smug look on his face.

dumbledore called for everyones attention and then announced the cedric had won. y/n smiled widely at him. the head master then announced that harry had received second place after saving two people. y/n was so proud of both of them and quickly ran from draco to congratulate them. cedric took her into a wet hug and she didn't even mind, she was just elated that he was okay. she also gave harry a quick hug and even though he looked confused at first, he hugged back tightly.

after the task everyone boarded the boats once more to head back to the castle. y/n was freezing and she couldn't wait to get back into the common room to warm up. once her feet touched the ground, she grabbed dracos hand and quickly ran back into hogwarts.

once the two had entered the slytherin dorms, she led him up to her room and the two sat on her bed after she had removed her damp jacket and put on dracos old jumper.

"marvelous, wasn't it?" she smiled.

"i suppose, i just wish harry would've finished last or not at all."

she laughed gently at him, shoving him playfully with her hand, "you're so bitter. lighten up a bit."

"i have lightened up. i put up with so many people for you but i refuse to put up with potter."

she rolled her eyes, "i know. you don't have to."

marley soon entered the room, "hey guys. there's another celebration in the hufflepuff room. want to join me?"

y/n shook her head, "actually i think i'm going to head to the library."

marley nodded and left the two in the dorm. y/n wasn't actually going to go to the library but she knew there was no way draco would go to the hufflepuff dorms. she wanted to stay with him.

the two just laid on the small bed together, wrapped up in each other's legs. they laughed and shared kisses and enjoyed their time before both pansy and blaise came strolling.

pansy scoffed at the two of them, "oh god. go somewhere else, could you?"

"i think i'm okay right where i am, thanks." y/n spat as she sat up and glared at the brunette girl.

"this isn't just your room, y/l/n."

y/n crossed her arms, "this isn't just your room either, parkinson."

"y/n, don't you have anything better to do? like flirt with diggory some more?" pansy laughed as she held onto blaises hand. blaise looked so annoyed to even be standing next to her and y/n felt so bad for him.

"you know, i would but i think you do enough flirting with other people when you're in a relationship. you do it so much, i don't think there's really any need for me to do it as well." y/n shot back, earning a chuckle from draco.

pansy scoffed and rolled her eyes. she pulled blaise out of the room quickly, clearly that was a touchy subject for the two.

"i love it when you get all fired up. it's hot." draco said while still laughing

"oh piss off, draco." she said as she began to laugh as well. they laid back down and continued joking around once more.
