the four moved almost every day, never staying in one place for too long. there were afraid that if they did, they would be spotted and found.

y/n sat at the small wooden table, a book laid out in front of her. hermione used scissors on harry's hair and ron laid on a bed, listening to the radio once again.

"oh my god." y/n exclaimed as she stood up with all eyes on her.

"what?" hermione asked as she placed the scissors down.

"the sword of gryffindor, it's goblin made."

"brilliant." harry said as he gave her a thumbs up.

hermione gasped after realizing what the girl was referring to, "no, harry, you don't understand. dirt and rust have no effect on the blade."

y/n moved the book towards the two so they could read its contents, "it only takes in what makes it stronger."

"okay." harry said, still not understanding.

"you've already destroyed one horcrux, right?" hermione asked, "tom riddle's diary in the chamber of secrets."

"with a basilisk fang. if you tell me you've got one of those, in that bloody beaded bag of yours,"

"don't you see?" y/n asked as she cut him off, "in the chamber of secrets, you stabbed the basilisk with the sword of gryffindor. it's blade is impregnated with basilisk venom!"

"it only takes in what makes it stronger!" harry said as he finally understood, "which is why it can destroy horcrux's."

"and that's why dumbledore left it to you in his will." hermione added with a smile.

"you both are brilliant. truly, brilliant." harry said as he read more pieces in the book.

the lights soon went out and their heads turned towards ron as he approached them, "the sword was stolen."

he then used his deluminator and turned the lights back on, "yeah, i'm still here. but you three carry on. don't let me spoil the fun."

"ronald, what's wrong?" y/n asked as she stood up from the bench.

"wrong? nothing's wrong. not according to harry, anyway."

"look, if you've got something to say, don't be shy. spit it out." harry said as he glared at ron.

"alright, i'll spit it out. but don't expect me to be grateful just because now there's another damn thing we've gotta find!"

"i thought you knew what you signed up for?" harry asked.

"yeah, i thought i did too."

"well then, i'm sorry, but i don't quite understand. what part of this isn't living up to your expectations? did you think we were gonna be staying in a five star hotel? finding a horcrux every other day? thought you'd be back with your mum by christmas?"

"harry," y/n began but ron spoke up and cut her off.

"i just thought, after all this time, we would've actually achieved something. i thought you knew what you were doing! i thought dumbledore told you something worthwhile! i thought you had a plan!"

"i told you everything dumbledore told me!" harry yelled, "and in case you haven't noticed, we found a horcrux already."

"yeah, and we're as close to getting rid of it as we are to finding the rest of them, aren't we?"

"enough!" y/n said loudly as she stood between the two, "jesus christ, what's gotten into you two!"

hermione tried to remove the necklace from ron's neck but he shoved her hands away, "do you want to know why i listen to that radio every day? to make sure i don't hear ginny's name, or fred, or george or mum."

"you think i'm not listening? you think i don't know how that feels?" harry yelled again.

"no, you don't know how this feels!" ron screamed, making both y/n and hermione take a step back, "your parents are dead! you have no family!"

harry went to tackle ron and y/n and hermione jumped in to keep them apart, begging them to stop.

"fine, then go!" harry said as he pointed towards the door, "go, then!"

"fine." ron spat as he took off the horcrux, throwing it to the ground. he grabbed his bag and walked towards the door of the tent.

"and you?" ron asked as he looked at hermione, "are you coming or are you staying?"

hermione didn't say anything and she didn't move. ron then looked towards the other girl, "y/n?"

y/n sighed as she nodded her head, grabbing her bag as well. she wasn't going to let ron go out there alone. she turned towards harry and hermione, mouthing an "i'm sorry" and quickly followed the ginger boy outside.

they walked for awhile in the darkness, not walking towards anywhere in particular. "do you even know where we're going, ron?" y/n asked as she watched the ground, careful not to lose her step.

"of course i do." he muttered.

"really?" y/n asked loudly as she stopped walking, "cause it seems like you have no bloody idea! i've been following you for hours and so far you've led us absolutely no where!"

"fine! then apparate us somewhere!" ron yelled as he looked towards her.

"i can't think of anywhere to go, ron! we have to stay hidden. besides, i'm not willing to risk you getting hurt again!"

ron sighed and threw his bag onto the ground, sitting on the dirt next to it. y/n paced around while she thought of a place to go before an idea popped into her head.

"follow me."

"where are we?" ron asked as y/n lit a lantern that sat on the dusty table.

"my grandfather's old house. he ran away from home and built it at only 19 years old."

"awfully creepy." ron said as he pulled out an old wooden chair to sit on, "and dirty."

the girl turned towards him, "well, what did you expect? he passed away when i was 5. the house hasn't been used since."

y/n sighed and sat her bag next to the lantern, pulling out some food and water for both her and ron. she sat on a chair next to him and ran a hand through her hair.

"why did he run from home?" ron asked as he opened his bag of crackers.

"i'm not too sure." y/n said as she shook her head, "i just know that him and his father used to bicker often. it probably had something to do with that."

he nodded and they ate their food quietly. when they finished, y/n stood and walked over towards the couch, wiping some dust and dirt from it.

"you take the couch. it'll be better for your arm."

"no, no. that's okay. i'll sleep on the floor." he said.

"you're mad if you think i'm going to let you sleep on the floor." y/n said through a small laugh. she had been successful in finding some blankets and even an extra pillow and made out their sleeping areas.

they removed their shoes and laid down before ron spoke up, "can i tell you a secret?"

"of course." y/n said as she stared into the darkness.

"i want to go home."

they both laughed and the girl agreed. all she truly wanted was to be back with draco and her parents. being without them with a war going on terrified her, and it scared her even more knowing that her and draco were fighting on different sides.
