the wrong choice // d.l.m.

twenty seven

"your attention, please! this is a great day for all of us. each of the three tasks involves very considerable danger. please keep your seats at all times. this will minimize any risks you may be exposed to." a loud voice said. y/n was bouncing in her seat, excited and scared to watch the first task.

"my bet is on krum." pansy said from next to marley, the wind blowing through her hair, "there's no way potter's going to get that egg."

"we'll see." y/n simply said. her and pansy had grown apart quite quickly. after she had started dating zabini she began to act different. she was now snobby and acted like she was better than everyone else. y/n didn't mind though, as long as she had marley and draco, she didn't need anyone else.

it was first cedrics turn and y/n erupted into cheers as he stepped out, shouting his name with the other students. he was successful in capturing his egg and when he did y/n stood from her seat and clapped loudly, cheering and shouting for him. next was krum, who was also successful, as was fleur.

after a much anticipated wait, it was finally harry's turn. y/n watched him closely as he stepped out onto the rocks. she was terrified, completely terrified. everyone was silent as they watched him begin to step closer to his egg before his dragon fell down behind him. y/n gasped loudly as the dragon blew fire right at harry.

she winced every time the dragon smacked its tail against the rocks and frantically searched for the boy every time he went out of view. he hadn't done anything yet, and was only just running from the horntail, trying not to be burnt to ash. this had gone on for a few minutes before y/n yelled out, "your wand, harry! your wand!"

harry heard her and looked up at her for a moment before shouting, "accio firebolt!" the spell hadn't done anything, and he quickly ran behind a rock again. soon, he jumped onto a broom, moving out of the way just in time to not be hit by the dragons fire. draco threw his head back and put a gloved hand to his face, laughing slightly.

harry flew around the rocks and the chain that was holding the dragon broke. with the creature now free it followed behind harry dangerously close. he flew out of the arena and the dragon was quick to follow.

"oh, shit." y/n said as she watched the two fly out of view. everyone was silent, the only sounds coming from the heavy and nervous breaths almost everyone took. minutes passed and there was still no sign of the boy. y/n started to panic, frantically looking around, hoping he would appear. murmurs could be heard all around, and y/n gripped onto marleys arm tightly.

finally harry came flying in, his dragon no where to be seen. everyone jumped to their feet and screamed out to him. he flew down and picked up his egg gracefully before putting his feet down onto the rocks. y/n couldn't contain her excitement and was quick to run down to congratulate him.

"i can't believe he actually did it. a little part of me was hoping that dragon would tear him to pieces." pansy scoffed as the group walked down the corridor back to the slytherin room.

y/n stopped abruptly, causing draco to stop with her since he had his arm wrapped around her shoulders, "what is wrong with you, pansy! you never used to be such a bitch."

pansy stopped walking and turned around, eyeing y/n up and down slowly, "what's your problem y/n?" she stepped closer to the girls face and both draco and blaise were quick to step close to their girlfriends, not wanting a fight to break out.

"my problem is that ever since you started dating blaise you've turned into a heartless, self centered twat that thinks she's the princess of hogwarts when you are incredibly far from it."

pansy's chest rose as she took a deep breath, "you better watch what you say, y/n. at least i'm not a disgusting blood traitor."

pansy had never had a problem with y/n's old friends before or if she had she never spoke up and said anything about it. y/n laughed, she was in no mood to deal with the girl in front of her. she went to say something back before pansy cut her off, "even your boyfriend agrees."

draco stepped in front of y/n, "speak for yourself, parkinson. don't make me tell blaise about all of the times you've tried to get with me over the years, knowing well that i had no interest in you."

y/n began to burn with rage. she hadn't known that pansy had ever made moves on draco, and she was upset that he never told her. she didn't say anything to any of them, but quickly turned and walked away.

"what is wrong with you guys?" marley said in disbelief before running to catch up to her best friend. y/n had began to walk in the opposite direction, now having no interest to go sit in her common room with the people she thought she could trust. she started making her way to the gryffindor common room instead.

while the two were walking they bumped into cedric who quickly noticed the state y/n was in. "what's wrong?" he asked as his eyes went wide.

"i'm fine." she said, lying through her teeth. cedric knew she wasn't telling the truth so he just pulled her into a friendly hug while marley rubbed her back. while they were hugging cedric looked up and glanced at marley who mouthed dracos name. he nodded, understanding why the girl was so distraught.

when they pulled away cedric said, "i was going to go to my common room to hang out with some friends for awhile. would you two like to come?"

y/n thought for a moment before nodding her head, "actually, that sounds fun." she had completely forgotten that she was headed to the gryffindor common room to make amends with her old friends. marley also agreed and they followed cedric as he led them both to the hufflepuff dorms.

it was after midnight when the two girls scurried quietly back down to the dungeons. marley was walking with a very happy step as she had spent almost all of her time with aliyah. y/n met the girl marley was head over heels for and she was as sweet and beautiful as her best friend had explained. she thought the two were perfect for each other.

y/n had spent almost all of her time with cedric who introduced her to some of his older friends. they were unsure at first because of her house, but they all soon began to get over their suspicions. she had such a fun time as they all played games, danced around to literally no music, and shared many laughs.

the slytherin door had come into view and y/n said the password. the door opened and the girls stepped inside. they weren't expecting anyone to be awake but they weren't surprised when draco was sitting on the sofa. marley gave her a knowing look and made her way to her room, leaving the two alone to talk.

y/n really didn't want to speak to him so soon, but she was mature and knew that ignoring him would only strain their relationship more.

"where were you? i was so worried." he asked as she sat down next to him.

"i was with cedric." she said blankly, she wasn't going to explain herself and try to tell him why she was with him.

"cedric?" he gave her a confused look, "why would you be with cedric?"

"that's really none of your concern, draco. just as apparently it was none of my concern when pansy made passes at you."

he sighed, "i didn't tell you because i knew she was your friend. and i handled it every time. i'm yours and i don't plan on letting anyone change that."

y/n crossed her arms, "that's the thing! you should have told me because she was my friend! instead you just let me continue to talk and be friendly to her like an idiot. i look foolish!"

draco shook his head, placing a soft hand on her arm, "you don't, princess. you're right, i should have told you. i'm sorry."

she sighed, "i really just don't want to fight with you. i'm tired and i'm going to bed."

she stood up and left draco seated on the sofa. he ran a hand through his hair before standing up and leaving the common room.
