"we need to go back. they won't be able to do this without us and we certainly won't be able to do this without them."

y/n packed her bag and put things away. she moved quickly, wanting to return to harry and hermione as fast as she could.

"as much as i don't want to be around harry, i agree with you." ron said as he packed his bag as well.

the girl sighed and threw an arm up, "how many times do i have to tell you? there is nothing going on between harry and hermione."

"how would you know? are you able to feel what they feel, y/n?" ron asked sarcastically.

y/n smacked his uninjured arm playfully as she rolled her eyes, "you're such a git. anyway, i know for a fact that they've moved places, they wouldn't have stayed in the same spot for weeks. i suggest that we check where we knew they were last and go from there."

ron agreed and the two set off, leaving the old wooden house behind. they walked for days, taking shelter in different places before finally returning back to the old place. y/n knew they wouldn't still be there, and she was right.

ron grabbed his deluminator and used it as a form of light while the two set off walking once more.

after only a little bit of walking, a bright, glowing light could be seen behind a large group of trees. "ron, do you see that?" y/n asked as she pointed to it.

they walked closer to it and noticed that it was a doe. the animal stood and waited for them and began to walk away as they grew closer. they followed close behind it and it led them to an open area with a frozen lake.

as they walked closer to the lake, y/n noticed something inside was writhing and trying to get out. she eyed the thing closely and yelled out to ron as she saw that it was harry.

ron dropped his bag and jumped into the frozen lake, pulling out not only a half naked harry, but also a long and beautiful golden sword.

y/n quickly grabbed harry's jacket that was laying on the ground and wrapped it around his shoulders, handing him his glasses.

"are you mental?" ron asked as she looked at his friend.

"y/n? ron? are you the ones that cast that doe?" harry asked, pulling up and buckling his jeans.

"no, i thought that was you." ron said.

"no, my patronus is a stag."

y/n walked over towards the sword that was now laid on the ground, picking it up gently and handing it to ron. harry grabbed the horcrux from around his neck and placed it on a large rock.

"okay, ron. do it." harry said as he took a few steps back.

"i can't handle it. that thing affects me more than it affects you three."

"that's why you should be the one to do it." y/n said, sending ron a small smile.

"no, i can't." ron argued as he tried to give the sword to y/n.

"then why are you here? why did you two come back?" harry asked.

ron looked at y/n sadly before harry continued, "now, i'll have to speak to it in order for it to open. when it does, don't hesitate. i don't know what's in there, but it'll put up a fight. the bit of riddle that was in that diary tried to kill me."

y/n turned and walked away, not wanting to be anywhere near the locket when it opened. she stood near a tree, watching as harry began to speak to it.

the locket exploded into black, screaming smoke, throwing the three backwards. y/n stared up with wide eyes as the darkness began to speak to ron. small spiders crawled out and followed the ginger boy as he crawled away quickly.

"ron, kill it!" harry screamed and y/n stood up, running over to him.

light versions of harry and hermione approached from the tornado of blackness and they began to taunt ron before kissing. ron stared up in horror before standing up and smashing the necklace with the sword, making the darkness fade away.

ron sat on his knees and y/n ran to him, taking him into a bone crushing hug. he hugged back and she pulled away, sitting down on the leaves next to him.

the three sat in silence for a moment before ron chuckled, "just think, only three to go."

"hermione!" y/n exclaimed as she walked into the tent.

the girl opened her eyes and looked up as she gasped. she jumped from the bed she was sleeping on and embraced the girl into a hug.

"my god, i was worried sick! are you alright?" hermione asked as she brushed some dirt away from y/n's face.

"i'm okay, i'm okay. but guess who's also here?"

hermione's face dropped and she turned to walk out of the tent. ron greeted her happily but she walked up to him and pulled the bag roughly from his shoulder.

"you complete arse, ronald weasley!" hermione yelled as she threw some leaves at him. y/n stood next to harry and raised her eyebrows at him as he looked stunned. "you show up here after weeks, and you say "hey"?

ron stuttered over his words, "y/n was gone for weeks too!"

"y/n can take care of herself! you, on the other hand, can not! where's my wand?"

hermione turned angrily towards harry as he took a few steps back, "i don't have it!"

"harry potter, you give me my wand!" hermione yelled as she walked up close to him.

"hermione." y/n said as she drew in the girls attention, "look."

hermione's eyes followed y/n's finger as they landed on ron. he held up the destroyed horcrux and hermione gasped again, "you destroyed it? and how is it that you just happen to have the sword of gryffindor?"

"it's a long story." harry said.

"don't think this changes anything." hermione spat as she walked back towards the tent. y/n went to follow her before ron spoke up,

"oh, of course not. i only just destroyed a bloody horcrux. why would that change anything? look, we wanted to come back as soon as we left, we just didn't know how to find you guys."

"yeah, how did you find us?" harry asked as he looked at y/n.

"with this." ron said as he pulled his deluminator out from his pocket, "it doesn't just turn off lights. i don't know how it works, but christmas morning we were sleeping and we heard it."

"it?" harry asked.

"a voice." y/n said.

"your voice, hermione, coming out of it." ron added, "you said my name. just my name. like a whisper. so i took it, clicked it, and this tiny ball of light appeared, and we knew. sure enough, it floated towards us, the ball of light. it went right through my chest and led us right back here."

ron looked between harry and hermione as he sighed, hoping they would forgive him. y/n gave him a smile and walked back into the tent to warm up.
