I hadn't realized how close we were to the next venue after dinner, because not soon after we were back on the road, we were parking in the area where the busses were already starting to line up. We were in South Carolina and it was hot out, even at ten thirty at night.
When we pulled up, Jack expressed that he wnted to visit the Gym Class Heroes bus because Travey owed him a beer from some bet they had going on. Zack, strangely enough, decided he wanted to go for a run. He complained that he was sick of sitting around, and wanted to get up and do something. Rian and Kara chose to take a walk minutes after Zack left. And the bus driver informed us that he was heading to the hotel across the street to get some rest. I only smiled and thanked him from my seat before he let himself out the door.
I had assumed Alex had wandered with Jack over to the other bus, mostly because he hadn't been drinking much lately an I'm sure he wanted a taste as much as Jack did. I curled up int he front of the bus in a blanket that was draped over te seat with a notebook in hand, writing down lyrics that I'd thought of earlier this week but never had the chance to write down.
Halfway through zoning out, and getting the words on paper, I noticed that there was a faint tapping coming from the back of the bus. It almost sounded like someone was typing, but I wasn't sure where it was coming from because everyone was gone.
I flipped the notebook closed, and stuffed it into the side of the couch cushion where no one has actually found it yet. I had done that the second day when Jack walked in and not a single person has noticed yet. I realizde that I had my own hiding spot on the bus.
I stood from my seat, blanket still around my body while walking through the small hallway. I saw light from a famililar bunk, and pulled the curtain to reveal Alex sitting with his headphones plugged into his MacBook that was delicately on his lap. His head was close to the ceiling above him, and the blue glow from the screen left his eyes black when he looked up at me.
Alex moved closer to the wall with a small smile, and I crawled into the bunk next to him. I let the blanket that was around my shoulders fall tot he ground while moving into Alex's bed and leaning my head on his shoulder. He gave me a small grin, while clicking around on his fan pages and MySpace page. I could see the icon for iTunes on the side of the screen but as soon as he pulled his headphones out, the silence fell over us.
"I thought you were going with Jack," I looked up at him, and he shrugged his eyes.
"Too damn lazy," I could hear the smile on his mouth when I looked back at the computer screen. I rolled my eyes with a small laugh, watching while he filtered through comments after comments. It was ridiculous how many friends they had on MySpace at this point. It was getting close to half a million and they were just getting their dates set up to record their first album in the fall.
The comments were a lot of the same thing. Many told Alex that they wanted to marry him, Zack looked like God himself, Jack was too funny for his own good, and Rian was just plain gorgeous. Just a few days ago Flyzik had come up to the boys with flip cameras and told them to start filiming little things they do throughout the day so they could post it online and 'keep fans connected'.
"There are so many comments," I said in amazement, and Alex nodded, breath taken away just like mine. It seemed like every single day he was astonished about how many people loved his music, and I could see it in his eyes how much it meant to him.
While he filtered through questions, and commented back to a few lucky fans, there was a question that began to pop up more than once. It actually happened a few times, and I didn't know what to think of it.
