The last few weeks of March consisted of Adam, avoiding Alex, and hanging out with my friends. It was easy for Adam to hang out with my friends because of how well he knew Zack. They used to be really close, and now they were able to talk again. I felt a small pang of happiness in the fact I sort of helped an old friendship rekindle.

I didn't bring Adam golfing though. I was scared it'd be too much for my friends. It seemed like an initiation for me to be a part of their group, and Alex would never consider Adam part of his group of friends.

For some God awful reason, he really hated Adam. You could tell by the way he would talk to him. Adam, being the nice guy that he was, ignored it and continued to be friendly anyway. He was doing it for me, and I know he was getting sick of it. I could tell, even if he wouldn't tell me.

"Adam, can you move?" Alex said bluntly as he stood next to him. His guitar was dangling from his shoulders, "I need to be able to get around," Adam nodded, unfazed by the rude remark as he plopped down next to me. His arm fell around my shoulder, and he kissed my cheek softly. I felt my ear flame up, and I smiled at him.

"What song, guys?" Rian asked while taking a sip of water. Kara was texting on her phone quietly, and Adam was whispering in my ear softly. He tended to do that a lot, and it was always something charming; telling me I looked nice, or that my hair is pretty. It gave me small tingles in my stomach, and I liked them.

"That Girl's A Straight Up Hustler," Alex was staring directly at me.

I knew most of their songs by heart at this point. And I wasn't sure why he looked at me that way when he said it. There was still so much resentment in his voice when he spoke to me. I couldn't figure out what his problem was. He never wanted to talk about it, whenever I asked he would brush me off and say it's nothing. I was so close to screaming. I gave up; apparently he didn't even want my friendship.

I really tried to ignre how much I hated that feeling in my cut when I thought about it.

They began playing, and I continued to smile at Adam. He was playing wiht my hair, letting the pieces fall between his fingertips. I pulled my fingers through Adam's, trying to ignore the lyrics Alex was screaming in my direction.

        She gets what she wants and she breaks what she gets;
Get out while you can or she'll tear you to pieces.

I shook off the ideas running through my mind, eyes focusing on my heart beat, and Adam close to my side.

After the song was over, Alex was winded and Jack was already trying to figure out why his guitar wasn't tuned properly. Zack wandered over to Adam and myself and began to talk about their friends and who Zack has and hasn't seen in a while. Rian and Kara talked quietly, Kara running her fingers through Rian's hair and he smiled up at her from his seat.

Alex pulled out his phone, putting it to his ear. He was looking directly at me, and I felt myself looking back at him. He spoke so softly that I couldn't catch what he ws saying to the person on the other end. His smile grew widely while he walked towards the garage door and pulled it open. The light from the band room flooded the driveway, and a car was pulling in.

The car turned off and I saw a tall girl step out of the car. The lights turned off and I heard the click of a pair of heels. I shook my head as Alex looked at me with raised eyebrows, a wicked grin on his lips.

No, he woldn't. He's not that much of an asshole.

"Alex!" A whiney voice called out, breaking into a girly, half-jog to push his chest against hers. Her jeans were too tight and her pink sweater was too dressy for the occasion. She held a large Starbucks something or other in her grip, along with an expensive looking purse. Her lip gloss was perfect, and no doubt fixed right before getting out of the car.

He is that much of an asshole.

"Fuck," I mumbled softly. Adam heard my small cry for help and looked towards me, breaking his conversation with Zack. He asked me what was wrong, but there was no telling him now that Alex was shutting the door and we were stuck here with the beast. That bitch still cornered me to tell me to stay away from Alex.

Jessica glanced around the room, and once her eyes landed on me, she snorted loudly before planting a kiss on Alex's lips. My fingers curled around the fabric of Adam's shirt. I wanted to disappear, forever.

"What's wrong?" Adam whispered to me, completely oblivious to the fact that Jessica hated me more than anything else in the world. She wanted me dead, and we both knew it. I had told Adam, but maybe he just didn't remember.

"Her," I grumbled, leaning my head against his shoulder. He thought for a moment, and nodded once it hit him.

After twenty minutes of awkwardly sitting and listening to songs, Alex finally made his way to Jessica and stood in front of her. She grinned at him wickedly before putting his face to hers. I wanted to throw up while watching them breathe down each other's throats.

While they were sucking each other's faces off, Adam stood, fingers dangling for me to take them. I grasped them willingly and looked away from the animals to my left. I really wanted to hit Alex upside the head. She was so disgusting. I couldn't even stand it.

"Well, Stella needs to head home," Adam announced awkwardly. Kara and Rian looked up, while Zack and Jack gave us a look of desperation to stay longer. I knew that deep down none of them liked Jessica either. Maybe they didn't mind her as a one night stand, but not a girlfriend to be nagging Alex all day long.

"I'll text you tomorrow, Kara," I said in a small voice. Kara nodded with an apologetic look, knowing the reason I didn't want to stay any longer.

Alex and Jessica broke apart briefly to glance at us in separate ways. Alex's face was hard, and annoyed, while Jessica looked satisfied with her accomplishment for the evening, kicking me out without saying anything.

Jack reluctantly pulled up the garage door for both Adam and I and I trailed behind Adam while he pulled me towards the car, like a puppy on a leash. When Jack closed the door, I let out a huge sigh of relief. Thank God.

As we got closer to the car, the silence was awkward. It was something that really bugged me about our relationship. The silences weren't ones where everything was fine; it was like something was always lingering in the air around us.

Before splitting up for me to get in the passenger's side and him the driver's, he caught my elbow and pulled me back cautiously. I willingly slumped into his embrace and breathed in his cologne. He kissed the top of my hair once before pulling away.

"Can I ask you a question?" he said in the cool breeze of the night air. I shivered and nodded, waiting for his question. "Are you sure you and Alex don't need to talk something out?"

"What do you mean?" hearing Adam say Alex's name really bothered me.

"You guys always argue, and it's just like you guys have a lot of things left unsaid," he mutted while pushing my hair out of my face.

I scrunched my nose and shook my head. I reached for the collar of his hoodie and pulled his mouth down on mine. His lips were so sweet, like candy. I smiled under his mouth, and he did the same.

My stomach was filled with butterflies and my head was slightly dizzy. I kissed him once more and looked into his eyes for a long moment before speaking.

"If those unsaid words are supposed to be said, they will someday. I'm more concerned with our words, honestly," I giggled and he put his lips on mine again. His hand found the back of my neck, not forceful, but not letting me pull away.

We let go for a breath and he was beaming down at me before kissing my forehead.

"I like the sound of that."
