When I woke up in the morning, my temple was pounding harder than I expected. I guess I cracked Oliver's eye pretty hard if it was leaving my face so tender and swollen. I rean my fingers over it lightly, flinching as I pushed my nose further into Alex's pillow. The icepack was missing, and so was the warm body that was usually laying right next to me. I sighed lightly, looking at the open curtain, and the sticky note that ws dangling from the bottom of the bunk above me.
We gave you the day off, you look like hell (: Sure you'll miss the show this morning, but come find us when you get up. Advil is on the counter, text me if you need anything. -A
I rolled my eyes at the note, but didn't let my fingers crush the post it. Instead, I pushed it back to the small faux ceiling above me and smiled at it again before rolling to the ground and steading my feet on the cool tile.
My head felt light for a moment, and I was back to normal before I even shook my head. I let out a deep yawn, stretching my arms over my head before shuffling to the front of the bus. Like I expected, everyone was gone. The only noise was the hum of the air conditioning that the driver leaves on if we sleep later than he does. I should really make that sweet, old man a gift basket.
I mixed together a bowl of ereal, and ate it quickly. I swallowed the milk at the boll before tossing it into the sink and filling it with warm water and soap before moving to the back of the bus to find my bag. After locating it, I threw random clothes on I was sure I looked disgusting in.
I honestly didn't care this morning, and I really wasn't in the mood to try to impress anyone. My head was still ounding, and I was making silent reminders to myself to take the Advil or I'd be dying after a few hours in the noise outside the bus.
I hadn't dared to look in the mirror yet, knowing how awful it was going to look. I slid deoderant under my arms while tossing one of Alex's band shirts over my chest, and a pair of black running shorts on my legs. I knew it was going to be hot, and feeling so crappy, I just wanted to be comfortable today.
After brushing my teeth, and throwing my hair up in a messy bun, I was almost ready to walk out the door. My feet were stuffed into a pair of sandals and I shoved my phone into the side of my waistband because of my lack of pockets.
I almost winced at the purple and blue coloration above my right eye, and the decent sized bump sticking out. The small bathroom already made me frustrated, but with something like that on the side of my face, I was downright pissed. It wasn't my concern of looking bad, it was the attention that it would draw from people. I didn't like when people asked questions, or picked and prodded at anything that went wrong. I didn't want to have to explain to everyone that I was trying to get Oliver Sykes away from me. I just didn't want to have to go through the day with people asking renditions of the same questions about what happened. I was sure it coudn't be hidden, but when I slid a pair of sungalsses, it was almost impossible to see. So today would be a sungalsses day, even if it was dark and raining.
As I made my way to the door, I picked up the gel pills off the counter and dry swallowed them. I didn't know why it was so easy for me to do that, but normally people looked at me funny when I'd do it in public like a pro.
I was wishing away the pain in my head as the hot, humid August day pressed on my back as soon as I climbed out of the bus. I groaned lightly, knowing how much the heat would make my head hurt today. On top of that, the bands were loud; it was a concert after all. On days like this, not being able to hear would be the greatest gift in the world.
I managed to pull myself out of the busses and out towards the back of the stages. The sun was beating on my back, and the sweat was already starting to form. I let out another breath, knowing how long of a day this was already going to be.
