!! WARNING: GRAPHIC VIOLENCE !!

Zazie easily killed the two demons keeping guard of the box shaped facility, slicing their heads off in the blink of an eye. They really are superhuman. Norman, Vincent, and I stood behind the three. The white haired boy nudged my shoulder, grinning. "Impressive, aren't they?" I nodded my head, nervously gulping. I don't know if impressive was the right word. The six of us walked through the hallways of the concrete institution, Cislo and Barbara arguing which demons were their kills. "No, I remember smashing his head open with my mace." "Huh, weird. I remember the exact same thing... But with a nunchuck!" They bickered like children, Vincent sighing deeply behind me. " Big muscles, tiny brain." I pushed down a chuckle, following the three slowly. We stopped at a large metal door, Barbara's mace not even leaving a dent. "Let me try," Cislo butted in, swinging his chains. The steel door refused to budge, Zazie even throwing a blow. "Go find the control room." Norman said, turning around. "Barbara, y/n, with me. You three go on ahead." They all nodded, the black haired girl joining our squad. As she stepped in front of me, the alarms started to blare. "All employees, this is not a drill. Six intruders have infiltrated Lambda D04-12! Seek them out and kill them!" Norman rolled his eyes, trotting down the hallway. "It's this way." He muttered, covering his ears. We stopped at a set of double doors. I touched the metal plate acting as a knob, pushing it open. A black demon in safety vest was cowering in the corner of the camera filled room. "P- Please don't kill me!" It cried, covering it's head. "I- I have a family, please!" Barbara grit her teeth stepping forward. Norman grabbed her wrist, pulling her back.

Demons... Demons can have families? That's not strange at all, though. Mujika and Sonju were like siblings, traveling together and taking care of each other. Why was I surprised that this lowly factory worker had a family too? I stepped towards him, lowering my sword. "Do- Do you have a picture of them? Y- Your family?" I bent by his side, watching him shuffle through his pockets. He pulled out a small wallet, flipping it open. Underneath the plastic film, a small photograph of the demon and three others smiled back at me. His... wife..? And two small ones... His children? I turned to Barbara and Norman, who were frowning. "He has a family..." I muttered, clenching my weapon. I suddenly remembered Emma. Gilda, Don, Gillian, Alicia, Thoma, Lannion, everyone I escaped with. My family. How would they feel if I died? How would this demon's family feel if he died? "We- We can't kill him!" I stuttered, stumbling to my feet. Norman grimaced, clutching his rifle. "He's a demon, y/n." "He's alive! He has people he has to take care of too!" Barbara's expression contorted, her gaze falling to the ground. "I did too, y/n. I had a family. I had a life I liked. I had dreams an aspirations, goals, things I wanted to do, things I liked to do. I often... I often dreamed about a world where I could run around, free. In the a forest, or a street. Buying new clothes and cooking in my own house." She wiped her cheek with her free hand, gaze lifting to meet mine. "But I can't. I can't ever do those things. Because I was born into a world with those- those god damn monsters!" She shouted, lunging at the demon. I screamed, trying to grab the mace. Norman jumped towards me, pulling me away from her swing.

Black blood splattered over the room, staining Norman's jacket, spraying over my face and drenching Barbara, who had attacked him. She swung again, completely shattering the demon's skull. She grunted, over and over again, beating his already dead body into a pile of mush.

When she finished, she turned to me. "Do you see this? y/n? I'm a monster. No normal human can do what I do. Because they created me. Those demons. I can never be 'normal'." She raised her fingers in air quotes, tears running down her cheeks. "I can never feel the remorse you do because you haven't had nothing yet. You've always had hope. You've always had something to live for. But me?" She fell to her knees, sobbing into her hands. "I'm fucking worthless. I'm nothing. Nothing to this world."
