"Please! Teach me how to fight!" Barbara raised her eyebrow, looking at me strangely. "y/n, you've been through the liberation of a major hunting ground, is one of the sole caretakers of your family, and you're asking me to teach you to fight? I think you already can." I giggled sheepishly, watching her think about my strange request. "I'll teach you how to box, if you want. And how to use a weapon like a mace or sword." I smiled, thanking her. She ruffled my hair, slapping my back. "Wanna start now?" My eyes lit up. Barbara is the coolest. She's so tall and pretty, and really good in combat. I pulled off my hoodie, climbing into the ring.

"Let's start with stance. Arms up, fists at shoulder level. Left in front of right, guard your chest." I shifted my arms into the position Barbara was modeling. "Like this?" "Mhm." She nodded her head, straightening my back. "Let's try some jabs." We spent at least two hours sparring and practicing form. Norman visited, bringing us a snack. "Don't go too hard on her, Barbara!" He laughed, patting my head. She squished my cheeks, glancing at Norman. "She's a quick learner. I think she would even do well against Cislo." He smiled warmly, kissing my forehead. "Good girl."

With every day, Norman was returning to his old self. The kind, sweet boy from Grace Field. Being with him made me happy. We would talk for hours and hours into the night, joking or tying each other's hair weird. He'd never looked at me like he wanted anything more than that. It made me feel warm inside. Being Norman's best friend again.

"Gillian is super cute, isn't she?" Ray scoffed. "You're weird, old man." "Old man? Did you just call me an old man? I'm twenty two, child." "Old man." I heard the playful careless in his voice, joking around with Cislo. They stepped into the gym, eyes growing wide at Barbara and I's presence. "H- Hello, ladies," Cislo bowed dramatically, getting a giggle out of the two us. "And a hello to you too, creep!" We giggled, taking a bite out of Norman's treats. "Have you two been working out?" Cislo asked, pulling his shirt off. We nodded, taking a sip of water. I threw my empty bottle into the garbage can, the two adults clapping. "You've raised a good student, Barbara," The black haired man laughed. My own teacher scoffed, shushing him with a finger. "Better than yours, loser." Ray, who had been silent, turned to the two them confusedly. His eyes said everything. "You two are acting like children." He seemed to say, rolling his eyes. Somehow, the silly feud between Barbara and Cislo became a sparring match between Ray and I.

He brushed his bangs away. I noticed he had gotten a haircut. By Sandy, perhaps? I can see him begging Ray to let him cut his hair. He did a good job. "The hell are you looking at?" He hissed, raising his arms. I felt my head grow hot, but not from a blush. "Your stupid face, idiot." I threw the first punch, which he knocked away with an arm. I made a quick recovery, just in time to block a jab at my chest. I clicked my tongue, side stepping his hop forward, landing a strike right into his stomach. He gagged, stumbling backwards. "Give me a favor when I win." I snickered, stepping back. He bit his cheek, running towards me. He sent an uppercut straight for my chin, but again, I side stepped the straightforward attack, shifting to his right side. But he was prepared this time. He slid his left leg over the maneuver I was trying to make, grabbing my shoulders and pinning me against the floor. He fit his hand around my neck, grinning. "I win." His sweaty body was pressed against mine, my heart starting to pound. I think he noticed, because he blushed bright red. "You... owe me a favor..." He whispered. Those cold gray eyes has softened, the position we were in starting to settle in our heads. Ray's hands were at the sides of my head, not giving me any room to wiggle out. I tried to sound defiant and brave, but my voice came out as more of a squeak. "What'll it be?" He pulled his right hand away from it's stance, touching my cheek gently. "Don't get mad at me." I raised my eyebrow, opening my mouth. "For wha-"

He pressed his lips onto mine, his other hand slid underneath my waist, hoisting me up. Okay, so just a kiss. For old time's sake. Nothing more, nothing less. Oh boy, was I wrong. After about a minute of the innocent smooch, his lips parted, his tongue prying mine open. This- This isn't fair. I shoved him down, deepening the kiss and burying my fingers into his hair. We started to play a game of tag, our chemistry of push and pull starting to settle in. He moaned first, making my whole body go warm. "Ray-" I pulled myself up, a string of saliva connecting our mouths. We were panting for air, staring at each other intensely. A wave of embarrassment washed over me, as I realized I was sitting nice and comfy on the lap of my newly sworn nemesis. I stumbled to my feet, pointing at him. "You- You're stupid!" His gray eyes followed me as I ran away, grabbing my hoodie and jumping out the doors. Barbara and Cislo's faces were frozen in shock. Ray you're such an idiot!
