We stepped outside, the reunion of the Grace Field family well underway. Norman and Ray were tossing little Phil around, the boy laughing gleefully. "Hi," I said, walking up to the two. The black haired boy smiled, gently setting the little one down. "y- y/n- Is- Is that really you?" I nodded, tears streaming down my cheeks. He ran into my arms, sobbing loudly. My voice trembled with tears. "Y- Yeah, Phil, I- I'm home!"

I never once thought I'd return to Grace Field as some type of bandit. But today, I was a soldier. I pushed Phil behind me, a rogue demon employee glaring at us longingly. "hUngrY... hUNgrY..." It whispered gruffly, almost slithering towards Phil and I. A starved demon was ten times more scary than a wild one. It's waves of teeth seemed to get sharper and all of it's beady black eyes were fixated on my head. "pRemIuM! pRemIUm QuAliTY mEaT!" I wasn't going to be able to dodge this. Ray and Norman weren't holding their guns. We had celebrated too soon. The creature's movements got faster with it's hunger, and I was already tired and beat from the battles before. I closed my eyes, shielding my face with an arm. The soft, squishy noise of the stabbing of flesh made me grimace. Was I going to die? My other arm patted my stomach down. I was... I was okay? I opened my eyes to see Mom firmly holding's the demon's arm in front of her. Three silver claws just barely peeked out from her back, completely skewering her. "Run, y/n! Run!" I grunted, picking up Phil and stumbled to Ray and Norman's side. The demon retracted it's claws, licking the blood from off it's nails. It seemed to regain some of it's composure by that act, it's voice becoming steadier and more humanoid. Isabella fell to her knees, clutching her stomach tightly. Blood started to drip from her lips, but she continued to glare at the monster with a fighting spirit. The two boys by my side were frozen. Where were their guns? I threw Phil into Ray's arms, scrambling for the rifle on the grass. "Hey, fucker!" I shouted, cocking the shotgun. The demon turned around, confused. Isabella shook her head no, trying to scream. But her lungs had already been ruptured so she stayed silent. "Just like you said, mom. We fought, and fought, and fought, and fought. One stupid monster isn't going to be a problem." I grinned, but everything in my body hurt. This shouldn't have been a problem. But holy shit, it was getting difficult trying to dodge his furious slashes and swipes. Just one shot! I need to hit the eye! My breaths were getting heavy and my legs started to give out. If anything, I would die killing this thing. I aimed my shotgun for his head just as his claws slashed my chest. I wasn't going to make it! Black and red blood splattered across the wet emerald grass. The wound in my stomach was just a skin cut and was bandaged fairly easily by Mujika. As for the demon, Sonju had arrived just in time. He cut the thing's head off before it could kill me. "I love you so much, Sonju!" I wailed, lying on the ground as I was being treated. He chuckled, patting my head with a finger. Ray pinched my cheeks, giving me a concerned glare. "What's wrong with you, stupid! You could've died!" I giggled, grabbing his hand. "I know." Norman shrugged, nudging his shoulder. "She always knows, she just doesn't care." The white haired boy cupped my other cheek gently, correcting himself. "No, it's not that she doesn't care- It's that she cares about others more than herself. Even if it's someone that tried to kill her." The two pulled me up and I kneeled by Mama's side. "I don't expect you three to forgive me," She coughed, as Mujika cleaned the three cuts going straight through her body. "Is she going to be okay?" I asked, shushing the injured woman. Mujika frowned. "I don't know." Isabella smirked, pushing my hand away from her mouth. her fingers grazed my cheek, the life starting to leave her violet eyes. "You're so big now, y/n. You've grown to be such a beautiful young lady." Tears started to well up in mine, as I grabbed her hand, squeezing it tightly. "Mama..." I whispered. She chuckled painfully. "I'm so glad you can still call me that, even after what I've done to you..." A loud herd of footsteps stopped by my side. Don, Gilda, Emma, and all the other kids had made it back. "Mom?" Jemima stuttered, falling to her side. Isabella's eyes widened in shock. "Y- Yes, little one?" Chris and Alicia stepped forwards, hugging her body. "P- Please don't die! Please, Mama!" I let go of her hand so she could console the children crying by her side. "I- I'll try." She turned towards me, gazing at someone who was standing farther away than the others. "Ray..." She whispered. The black haired boy hesitantly kneeled next to me, a tight frown on his face. His hands were clenched into angry fists. Isabella smiled, touching his cheek. "You've become very handsome, haven't you Ray? Well, that's the only way you could have caught a girl like y/n." She chuckled, glancing at me. "You two turned out to be beautiful, both inside and out. And Ray... I'm sorry. Even though you were my son, I never doted on you. I never took care of you, and instead, used you as a dog for my own selfish desires. I'm grateful, y/n. That you could do that in my place. Thank you for taking care of my baby boy." She reached into her pocket, pulling out a small folded piece of film. She placed it in Ray's palm, folding his fingers over the paper. "Now it's your turn to take care of her, okay? She's been your light, your purpose, and," "My muse." He finished her sentence, reaching for my hand. "y/n is my muse." Mom's violet eyes melted at our touch. "I want to be there when you two get married, so I'll try not to die. Just let me take a nap." I blushed, nodding. She grinned one last time, before closing her eyes. "Is she really just resting?" I turned to Mujika, who was already checking for her pulse. "Yeah, she seems fine." I breathed a sigh of relief.

There was only one thing left to do, and it was to implement The Promise. We headed back into the HQ at the center of Grace Field Farm. The portal to the human world was hidden underneath it. I'm sorry mom. I'm sorry Ray. I'm sorry, everyone. The last thing I'll tell you guys is a lie. But don't hate me for it, because I love you all so much.
