This was Dick's list of everything he'd lost. Everything the fire had taken from him. He twisted his engagement band around his finger, thinking of his approaching wedding date.

A few tears slipped down his cheeks as he finally realized that his wedding wouldn't be anything like what he'd envisioned it to be for all these years.

Jason walked into the room and placed a gentle hand on Dick's shoulder. "What ya thinking about Dickie?" he asked.

"I...I don't know if I can go through with this..." Dick said. "The wedding that is... can't we just elope?"

Jason's brow furrowed. "Dick, you've been envisioning your perfect wedding ceremony since the day we started dating, probably even sooner. Are you sure you want to throw that all away and just run away together?" he asked.

"With this," Dick said, gesturing to his stump and wheelchair. "I won't be able to have the wedding I've spent so much time fantasizing over... I've always envisioned walking down the isle and being able to choose a cheesy love song for our first dance, but I can't do any of that now..." he trailed off. "I just don't see the point of a ceremony if it's just going to be a reminder of my uselessness."

"Dickie...." Jason sighed before going quiet for a moment. "I was going to wait until after the wedding to give this to you... but I think I'd better give it to you now."

Dick's face scrunched up in confusion. "What are you talking about Jay?" he asked.

"You'll see," Jason said, grabbing the handles on Dick's wheelchair and starting to wheel him towards the bedroom of their new apartment. "You ready?" he asked, gently squeezing Dick's shoulder.

"Well I don't know what I'm getting ready for... so... yes?" Dick said uncertainly.

Jason chuckled as he reached for something on the top shelf of their closet. "Don't worry," he said. "This is the good type of surprise."

Dick's confusion only grew when Jason set a box on his lap.

"It's my wedding present to you," Jason explained. "Open it up," he urged when Dick made no move to open the box.

Dick gasped when he opened the box, his eyes tearing up when he saw what was contained within. "Jason..." he trailed off, looking up at his fiancé with utter disbelief on his face. "Did you really?"

Jason nodded, a wide smile on his face.

An unbelieving laugh escaped from Dick's mouth as he looked down at a prosthetic foot. "Jason, these things are so expensive... I thought... where'd you come up with all the money for this?" Dick asked, still somewhat in shock.

"Well... most of the money was from that fund Bruce set up years ago. He always puts money in there for Christmas, but I haven't used any of it before," Jason said, rubbing the back of his neck.

Dick's eyes glistened with unshed tears as he pulled Jason down into a hug. "I love you," he whispered.

Jason chuckled. "Ya, I love you too..." he trailed off for a second. "Well, why don't you try it out."

Dick shifted a bit, biting his lip. "I... I don't know how to put it on," he said, a blush coloring his cheeks.

Jason chuckled again. "That's ok," he said, kneeling down and starting to put the prosthetic on Dick's leg.

A few moments later, Dick looked down at his two feet, one real, one fake. He took a steadying breath before slowly standing, testing out how the prosthetic felt before taking a step forward.

As soon as he placed his weight on the prosthetic, Dick stumbled and fell, not used to how it felt.

Jason caught Dick as he fell, pulling him into some sort of dip and kissing him gently on the lips.

When they parted from the kiss, Jason pulled Dick into a standing position, and rested their foreheads against each other. "I'm here Bluebird. I'll catch you if you fall," he said quietly.

Dick let out a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding before pushing himself away from Jason, and taking his first renewed steps on his own, his fiancé standing behind him, ready to catch him should he fall.
