Dick's eyes blinked open lazily, his breath hitching when he shifted and pain shot up his side. Startled tears pricked at his eyes. He tried to lift his head, move his arm, anything, but his body barely responded.

An uncomfortable heat pulsed under his skin even as he shivered, letting out a quiet sob when he jostled his injured hip.

"Jay?" He called, his voice sounding pathetically weak and shaky even in his own ears.

Why was he calling for Jason? He was gone, killed by the joker. Wasn't he? "Jay?" He mumbled, his energy rapidly depleting.

Movement at his bedroom doorway caught Dick's feverish gaze, tears welling up again in his eyes when he saw the disheveled form of his younger brother standing there.

A sob escaped Dick's throat and he squeezed his eyes shut. This couldn't be real.

"Breathe for me Goldie," Jason said, his cool hand resting on Dick's feverish skin.

Dick took in a shaking breath, opening his eyes and staring up at Jason's blurry form. "A-are you real?" He asked, his voice scratchy and raw.

Jason's concern deepened. "You saw me yesterday Dickie..."

Dick let his eyes fall closed again, tears still trickling down his cheeks.

"I think you need some antibiotics," Jason mumbled, moving the blankets enough for him to see the blood encrusted bandages that peeked above the line of Dick's sweatpants. "Let's take you to the manor. Alfred will help you feel better."

Dick shook his head. "N-no," he mumbled weakly. "Bruce... told me not to come back."

Jason's fists clenched. "I don't care," he said. "You need help."

Dick mumbled something in response, and Jason huffed, grabbing the elder's keys from the nightstand. "Where's your car?" He asked.

"Uhh..." Dick mumbled, staring up at Jason in bewilderment.

Jason mumbled something under his breath, leaning down to haul Dick's arm up over his shoulder and hoist him up to a standing position.

Dick slumped, almost causing Jason to drop him as he took the bulk of his brother's weight.

"Why's Ace here?" Dick asked, his head lolling to the side.

"Who the heck is Ace?"Jason grumbled.

"Batdog?"Dick mumbled, his voice wavering slightly.

"You need help," Jason said, helping Dick to the door.

Dick opened his eyes as Jason pulled up to the manor. "Jay?" He mumbled. "Y-you're alive?"

Jason sighed. "We've been through this Dickie," he said, resting his forehead on the steering wheel. "Do you think you'll be able to get to the front door on your own?" He asked. Seeing Bruce again was one of the last things he wanted at this particular moment.
