I am working on the requests I promise

Dick had never expressly given his address to Bruce and the gang, in fact, he'd tried to ask them to kindly not stalk him and figure it out.

He'd tried to set that boundary so he could have a place he didn't have to worry about having everything together. Where he didn't have to slap on a smile like a bandaid to cover his pain.

Of course, his family hadn't listened to him. His apartment was at the convenient intersection of most of Bruce's patrol routes, so siblings would frequently raid his cupboards for snacks or bandages if it had been a particularly bad night.

He'd thought him coming to the manor 2-3 times a week would be enough, but he often found his siblings crashed on his couch when they were having a hard day or if things got tense between them and Bruce.

Dick wished his family would respect his privacy and let him have his one safe space... Sometimes you just need to cry in the shower for a good 20 minutes, and Dick didn't feel comfortable enough to do that in front of his family. Sure, it was sad, but it was true. While his siblings cared to the best of their ability, they just didn't care in the way he needed them to.

To top it all off, Dick didn't even feel like he was part of the family on most days, and this day was no exception.

Dick was celebrating his birthday alone. He hadn't received an invitation from Bruce to come to the manor, something the elder had made mandatory after their most recent fight. So he hadn't made the drive up like he'd planned to.

Instead he simply sat at his kitchen table with one sadly wrapped present, a cup of juice, and a smooshed cupcake.

He blew out the candle on the cupcake, tears running down his cheeks as he made his wish. "I just want my family to love me again," he whispered, voice choked with tears.

Dick gingerly grabbed the gift. From himself to himself. "Thanks," he mumbled. "You shouldn't have."

He unwrapped the gift to find, as he knew he would, a folded up plastic grocery bag.

"Thanks," he said, voice quavering. "Now I won't have to pay extra for bags next time I get groceries."

Dick looked at the cupcake, sliding the chair back and standing up. He wasn't in the mood anymore. Turns out celebrating by yourself isn't that much fun after all.

Of all the days he wouldn't have minded his siblings showing up at his door or window, his Birthday was number one... but he doubted they would come. They probably didn't even remember that it was his birthday anyway.

He checked his phone again, almost out of habit. His heart jumped with hope when he saw that he had two texts from Bruce.

The hope was quickly squashed when he opened the text to see that Bruce had accidentally sent him something meant for someone else.

Tears filled his eyes as he trudged to his bed and crawled under the covers. He squeezed his eyes closed, tears leaking down his cheeks. What did he do wrong? He'd tried to love his siblings to the best of his ability, always remembering their special days and anniversaries... He supposed it was just too much to ask for someone to remember him.

Dick didn't realize he'd drifted off until he woke with a start, his phone vibrating next to him on the bed.

The caller ID read 'Zombie' with a bucket emoji. Jason.

Dick picked up the phone, mumbling a groggy greeting.

"Goldie," Jason said. "Demon's going absolutely insane and B doesn't know how to fix him."

Any hope Dick might have had that his brother had remembered his birthday was squashed in that moment. "Yeah," he mumbled, tears pricking his eyes once again. "I'll be right over."
