"I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Your motives are deceptively pure." Damon says to Mason as we walked through the cellar.

"You talk the talk, but I know you'll do anything for your brother. You won't screw me over as long as we have the same agenda." Mason retorts.

Damon looks at him. "I'm supposed to believe you're not going to screw me over?"

"Could you boys leave the drama for later?" I say annoyed as we reached two split tunnels.

"I'm missing the lighting for this treasure hunt for yours Mason. All right. Which way?" I ask as I hold up the lantern.

Mason shrugs. "I don't know. Flip a coin."

Damon frowns at him. "Aren't you supposed to be all-knowing?"
Mason laughs. "I'm a ghost. I'm not God. Go left." He suggests.

Damon goes but there's nothing there.

"Or not...You have trust issues. Anyone ever tell you that?"

Damon walks a little further and suddenly sharp wooden poles move out from the walls and go through his body and I let out a small shriek at the scare.

"Oh my god Damon!" I exclaimed as I cautiously approached. Damon groaned in pain and grabbed the stake, but he pulled back because it made his skin sizzle.

"Mason!" I looked up and scowled when I saw Mason was gone.

"Just hold on" I told Damon as I gripped a stake. I tried pulling on them but they were stuck in there.

"Dammit I can't get them out" I hissed as I let go. "Where the hell did Mason go!" I exclaimed as I looked back and breathed out in relief when Mason comes back with a shovel.

"Oh, I'm having a bad day." Damon says with a groans.

Mason approach's and I back away. "Sorry. Thought you might need this."

He breaks the long stakes with the shovel and removes them.

"You're welcome." He pulls out one of the stakes and Damon groans in pain as we pull the stakes out.

"What's your game, man? I killed you. I jammed my fist into your chest. I ripped your heart out. There's no way this whole buddy-trust act is real."

Mason looks between the both of us. "You know what the other side is like? We're all alone. We watch the people we left behind and we regret our decisions.

That's it. Look, I can't change what happened to me. But maybe I can change what happens to Tyler. I don't need revenge, Damon. I need redemption."

I sighed and looked at Damon, "Need some blood?"

Damon shook his head as we started to follow Mason "No. I'm fine"

We're still walking through the caverns when suddenly Damon hits an invisible barrier making me stop while Mason continues walking.

"God! This is not happening." Damon yells.
Mason finally stops and looks back. "What now?"

"I can't get through. It's like I'm not invited in. Wait!" He yells lifting up a finger.

"I'm not stopping just 'cause you're stuck. I'll let you know what I find." Mason says.

"Yeah, but..."

"Looks like you're gonna have to trust me." I give Damon a small shrug as I walk towards Mason.

"What is this?" I muttered at the wall we were staring at with white colored symbols on it.

"So? What'd you find?" Damon calls out to us.

"It's in..." Suddenly Mason disappears, making the lantern drop and shatter, which makes me flinch and let out a small yelp.

Damon yells as I walk to him. "No, no, no, no. No, where'd you go? Mason, Mason!"

I rushed back to Damon and took the lantern from him.

"What is it?" Damon asks as I went back to the wall.

"It's some sort of story, cave writings. Call Alaric"

"Finally your back. I thought you weren't going to ever come back" I muttered from my seat in the far end of the cave when both Damon and Alaric entered.

"Well I came because you asked not him" Alaric replied as he entered the cave and Damon rolled his eyes.
"Look, if Mason Lockwood can get over the fact that I killed him, can't you cut me a little slack, Ric?"
Alaric turns around and faces him. "I shouldn't have to get over it. I was your friend, Damon. You shouldn't have done it in the first place." "Well! Sometimes...I do things I don't have to do." Damon answered and I hide a smile from the way he avoided eye contact like if he was "You're going to recycle that same crap-ass apology you gave Mason Lockwood?" "Yeah, well...I didn't mean it with him."
Aw. That's so sweet, even for Damon.

"Alright, History Buff, care to make heads or tails about this?" I ask as Alaric came over and looks at the wall in amazement.

"What is it?" Damon asks.

"I have no idea."
