After Alaric rose from the dead, we took him to the hospital just in case whatever happened last time happened again.

"So he's going to be fine?" I questioned Meredith with concern for Alaric. He might have come back to life thanks to his Gilbert ring but it still didn't change the fact that he was attacked at home by some attacker, stabbed, and bled up out.

"He'll be fine, but he was attacked and he is part of the council so he'll have to stay here for observation." Meredith assured me, clutching Alaric chart and glancing to him who laid in a hospital gown in bed.

I let out a small breath of relief, thank god. "You better change the locks. I'm not going back inside that house otherwise." Alaric commented as Elena put down the bag of fresh clothes she and Matt went to go fetch from his apartment.

"We will." Elena promised him.

"Have fun with hospital food." I told him, giving him a wave as Elena and I started to leave. "You're a horrible person."

"I know."

..................

"How's Mr. Saltzman?" Matt asked as Elena and I found him in the waiting room.
"Resigned to spending the night in observation, so long as I promise to change the lock on the house." Elena told him.

"So I talked to Bonnie earlier. She and her mom are fine. Have you talked to Caroline?" Elena asked me as we walked down the hallway.

I nodded, "Yeah I did. She's fine, considering."

Bill Forbes decided to not transition into a vampire, so now he, well, died. "I'm stopping by later. Any word on who's behind these attacks?" Elena shakes her head. "No, Sheriff Forbes said there's no real suspects at all."

"How are you dealing with everything? I mean, you keep getting dragged into all of this." I tell Matt with some concern.

Matt sighs. "Honestly...I'm kind of lucky, the only thing that I have to worry about for tomorrow, is showing up for my shift at the Grill."

Elena turned to him, "Thank you, for everything today. Really."

"Get home safe." Matt tells her and we walk to his truck. I was about to get in when I felt like I was being watched. I raised a finger to Matt and pulled out a small crossbow from the glove compartment and loaded it with a stake.

"What are you doing?" Matt mouthed to me in confusion and I raised my finger to my lips to indicate to him to be quiet. "Just go, drive. Pick me up in 5 minutes."

Matt was confused but did what I told him, I closed the door and ducked for the bushes, watching as he drove off.

I watched from my spot crouched as Elena pulled out, but as she was leaving she stopped the car and got out, and Rebekah appeared.

I knew it.

I came out from my spot as Rebekah grabbed her and pushed her against her car. "You put a dagger through my back, Elena. It hurt."

"Let her go, Rebekah." I said as I stood a few paces back with the crossbow raised. "Now why should I listen to you?" Rebekah questioned as she turned around to face me, keeping a hold of Elena.

"Because I'm the reason you're out and about in the first place. Who do you think helped Elijah undagger you and the rest of your siblings?"

"Let her go." I said as I put my finger on the trigger. "This won't kill you but it will sting."
Rebekah smirked, "I'll pass."

Rebekah turned and extended fangs, I was this close to pulling the trigger before someone came out of nowhere and threw the crossbow to the side from my hands and grabbed Rebekah.

"Elijah." Rebekah heaved out at her brother. "Leave." He ordered as he let her go. She pursed her lips at him and looked at the three of us, "You're pathetic. All of you."

"I had her." I grumbled to Elijah as I picked back up my crossbow. "Yes I know."

Elena straightened up as I joined her and faced Elijah, "Well don't keep me in the dark Elijah, how did your little family reunion go?"

Elijah sighed, fixing up his suit, "About that. We have a little catching up to do."

"It was their mother Esther who was sealed in that coffin." I told the boys in Elena's kitchen. Elijah had told Elena and I that apparently it was their mother, Esther, the original witch, who I thought Klaus had killed that was in that coffin. She had shown up shortly after we left saying how she wanted them to be a family again.

"As in the Original Witch?" Stefan questioned. Damon frowns. "What? How is she even alive? Thought her hybrid freak show of a son ripped her heart out a thousand years ago."

I shrugged, "No idea. But if Abby and Bonnie were the ones who were the key to letting her out of the coffin, I'm guessing their ancestors might have put some spell to preserve her body. Apparently, Esther wants to live in peace with her family and that includes klaus."

"She was supposed to be the weapon to help us kill Klaus."

Elena shakes her head. "Well, not anymore...at least not according to Elijah."

"That coffin was the only thing stopping Klaus from tearing us to shreds." Stefan commented as he started pacing.

"Anyone else feeling a little used right now?" Damon commented.

"Look, Elijah promised me that his family wouldn't hurt any of us." Elena told the boys, who gave her pointed looks that read 'you're kidding me right?'

The doorbell rings which drew our attention for a second, "I believe him." Elena says before going to answer the door.

"She's insane." Damon told Stefan and I as he looked after Elena. "Which is why she is perfect for you." I told Damon, giving him a pat on the cheek before going to the kitchen.

"What is it?" I ask, seeing the envelope in Elena's hand as I walked to her. She opened the envelope and took out a card. "It's an invitation. 'Please join the Mikaelson Family, this evening at seven o'clock. For dancing, cocktails and celebration."

Stefan frowns. "Who the hell are the Mikaelsons?"

Elena looked up in realization. "The Original Family."

Damon groans. "It's not bad enough they're moving into town, now they want a housewarming gift?" She turns the card over and sees there's writing on the back.

"Wait, there's a note on the back. 'Elena, I think it's time that we finally meet, Esther."
