"If Esther wants to talk to me, maybe I should find out why." Elena said as she stalked into the living room with the boys and I on her tail. "Well that's a dumb idea, she already tried to kill you once."

I crossed my arms and looked at Damon, "I don't know. There has to be a reason why Esther wants to speak to Elena. I don't think that family dinners are Esther's endgame."

Stefan nodded in agreement, "Ariel's right. There is more to this than just some family reunion."

Damon scrunches his face. "Can we go back in time where the old Stefan cared if Elena lived or died?"

Stefan narrows his eyes at his brother. "What for? It's your job now."
I rolled my eyes, "Ahi dios mio." I grumbled under my breath.

Elena grumbles at their behavior "Ariel and Stefan have a point, Damon. I should find out what she wants."

"You can't protect yourself." Damon argues, "Okay fine, then I'll go." Says Stefan.

"You've pissed off enough Originals to last a lifetime. I'll go." Damon said before snatching the invitation out of Elena's hand. "Hey!" She yells in protest.

"End of story."

"I'm going with you!" I yelled after Damon who started for the front door. "No you're not!"
"Yes I am!" I yelled as I rushed after him, leaving Elena and Stefan.

"I need to speak to Elijah. There hasn't been any time for me to speak to him formally, this ball will give me the chance." I said when I caught up to him outside.

"What for?"

I pursed my lips, "Remember that lovely little dinner we had? Where I stabbed Elijah in the heart with the dagger? Remember what happened before?"

Damon groaned and grabbed the crook of his nose when he remembered, "Right. I remember."

I nodded, "Exactly. Pick me up at 8."

"It's all so weird. The Originals are throwing a ball. Like an actual ball." Elena says as I sat down with her and Caroline, I was wearing my uniform seeing as I was working a shift but had a quick 5 minute break to chat with them.

"Wait till you see their house, house is putting it lightly. It's huge." I said, turning over the letter Caroline had received from Klaus. Yes Klaus. She didn't just get a letter she got a dress and a bracelet as well.

"It's some twisted Cinderella fetish is what it is." Caroline retorted. "And why does the Evil Witch want an audience with you?"

Elena sighs. "I have no idea. There's only one way to find out."

Caroline folds her hands on the table and leans forward. "I thought you told Damon and Stefan that you weren't going."

Elena nods. "I did, which is all the more reason why I need a drama free bodyguard."

Caroline smiles lightly "Well, I think a Salvatore would look a lot better in a tux. And by that I mean Stefan."

Elena pouts in anger. "Uhh, I can't deal with either of the Salvatores right now. Whatever Stefan is feeling, he is channeling it all against Klaus. And Damon...it's just not a good idea."
"Why, cause you two made out? Bonnie and Ariel here spilled the beans."

I covered my face as I took a peak at Elena who stared back. "Sorry"

Elena sighs, looking back to Caroline. "I was gonna tell you. Just after everything happened with your dad...."

"Elena, when you and Matt kissed for the first time freshman year, you called me the second it happened. And now I don't hear about this till now, and from somebody else." Caroline says proving a point.

I shuddered in my seat, I remember that day. I was, not going to lie, disgusted by the fact that my best friend (who apparently at the time was my sister) and my brother had kissed. And now that I know my true heritage it just makes it weirder.

Elena sighs. "I'm sorry. It's just I, I don't even know how I feel about it yet. All I do know is that it just used to be so much easier."

"Careful Caroline. It's all well and good until she stabs you in the back." says a voice from behind us, Rebekah. "What are you doing here? I know your mom's rules. No hurting the locals." Elena reminds her.

Rebekah narrows her eyes at her. "Get over yourself Elena. It's not all about you."
Rebekah walks away over to Matt who was cleaning tables and gives him an invitation envelope to the ball.

I gape in shock, slamming my hands on the table. "Oh my god. She's inviting him to the ball. Why is she inviting him?" I question in shock.

"Probably to get this reaction from us." Elena responds. "You know what." I start and get up, wrapping my apron around my waist as I make my way to them. "Hi Rebekah." I say in greeting as I loop my arm around Matt's.

"Ariel." Rebekah says, grinding her teeth. I take the envelope from Matt and turn it over in my hands. "Thank you for the invitation Rebekah. We'll see you there." Rebekah shakes her head.

"No. The invite's for Matt not you" I pout as if I'm hurt. "Rebekah he's my brother, you invite him, you invite me or-" I say, drawing the word out. "He doesn't go."

Rebekah scowls annoyed, "Fine." She yells before storming off.

I smile proud and turn to Matt. "Seriously?" He questions. "What? Like I'm gonna let you go by yourself to a party thrown by vampires by yourself."

I looked back down at the envelope and slipped it in the pocket of my apron. "I was already going anyway."

"Then why'd you do that?"

I grinned, "I wanted to see her irritated."

Matt chuckled, shaking his head. "You're evil."

I gave him a cheeky smile, "I get it from my mothers side." and by that I mean Katherine.
