Ever since your visit Nat hasn't been able to sleep right. The picture of you yelling at her hasn't left her mind. Neither has the guilt of what she put you through.
No matter how much she wanted to deny that you losing so much had nothing to do with her she couldn't. It was a chain reaction she had broken up with and it clouded your wind so much that you couldn't keep up at work and you lost your place. In her mind it only made sense that she was responsible for all of your misfortune.
When she saw your car parked out front of her house she didn't know what to expect. However she never thought she would see so broken. Not just from being mugged but from what she did to you. How she left you because of her stupid fucking commitment issues.
She kept replaying what she said in her head. She was ignorant with her words. She shouldn't even have tried to force you to take your shirt off. It would've made more sense if she just offered to take you to the hospital.
In her mind she didn't deserve to wallow or feel sorry for herself. She's the one that hurt you so why should she get to feel like this. Like she's the one who lost everything. It all just made her stick to her stomach.
When she first broke things off with you she thought she could just move on, but that wasn't the case. She was always thinking about you. Everything reminded her of you and it had begun to eat her alive.
She tried her best to make you leave her mind but it didn't work. She had thrown herself into her job but it didn't take long for everyone to see what she was doing. They eventually put her on strict limits of many missions she could go on and how long she was allowed to stay at the office.
They had seen Nat when she was in a bad place but it was different when she broke up with you. There was less anger and much more sadness. At first she was going on all these mission but she wasn't performing her best. Natasha was making sloppy mistakes that she would've never done in the right headspace. It was part of the reason that figured she needed to have her actions limited.
They had honestly just lifted some of her restrictions when you were sitting in her driveway but now it seemed like she was back to square one. It was worse than square one , to her this wasn't even on par with how she felt before. This time the guilt was eating her alive and it was taking everything for her not to get swallowed up.
When she was supposed to be working all she could think about was your touch. She hadn't felt your skin against hers in months prior to her trying to patch you up.
Even though it was bruised and slightly bloody your skin was still soft like she remembered. Her hand had ended up caressing your face and she didn't even notice because it just felt right.
Being with you always felt right to Natasha. She hated herself for being so scared of loving you. She was scared to love you but what she came to realize was that she was more scared of losing you. You were her better half and she needed you.
Nat knew this but her entire being was telling her that she didn't deserve you. Not after all that she put you through.
" Nat, can I talk to you for a moment?"
Natasha's thoughts were interrupted when Wanda had decided to approach her. Nat was dreading this conversation because every time Wanda wanted to talk it meant she had been snooping around in someone's head.
Nonetheless Nat followed Wanda into her room and made herself comfortable on the bed.
" Natasha, everyone makes mistakes you know. Sometimes those mistakes can end up making us hurt the people that we love but that doesn't change the love we have for them. It doesn't erase the fact that we deserve love"
