You had a conflicting relationship with the autumn season. On one hand, you loved the weather and the festivities that came with it. On the other, it was the start of your seasonal depression. Working as a superhero, you already had plenty of reasons to be depressed.
Lives you didn't save, families that you couldn't help, homes you had destroyed, you already had a basis of sadness. However, you did try to stay as positive as you could because you didn't want to affect the team.
Most of the team didn't notice your change in mood during the season, but Wanda did. She didn't know it was depression, but she did know you wouldn't talk as much as you usually did. You didn't want to engage with the team like you usually did. You'd turn down invites more frequently during this time, and Wanda noticed.
She didn't want to push you, but she couldn't help but take a peek into your mind. She was overwhelmed by how many things you had going on in your mind. There was a lot of self-doubt and depreciation floating through your mind. What was even more alarming to Wanda was how quickly they stopped. One moment your mind was filled with unwelcome thoughts, the next it was completely empty. There were no happy thoughts or sad thoughts, but an emptiness the witch was all too familiar with.
You didn't notice that Wanda saw the difference in you, though she didn't try to hide it. She was spending a lot more time with you. When you weren't talkative she would have a hand on some part of your body while she conversed with the others. Wanda had always been very touchy-feely with you, so you just thought it was normal.
Tonight was one of those nights you declined an invitation. Tony was throwing an extravagant Halloween party in one of his homes, but you just weren't up to the task. The team insisted that you come, so you didn't spend the holiday alone, but Wanda offered to stay with you.
" Why didn't you go party with the others? I thought you loved Halloween"
The two of you were sitting on the couch. There was a respectable amount of space between you two as Hocus Pocus played on the tv.
" I don't mind spending it with you, Y/n," She popped a piece of popcorn into her mouth as she kept her attention on the tv.
" I thought you'd rather be at the party"
She turns her attention to you," No, not when you're here by yourself. I'd rather be with you"
You can't help the small smile that appears on your lips," Thank you"
" It's not a big deal," she tries to play it off.
" Well, it means a lot to me"
There was a beat of silence before Wanda spoke again," Y/n are you ok?"
You nodded," Ya why?"
Wanda didn't want to straight out say she had been snooping in your mind, but she did want to get you to talk about your feelings," It's just that, you've been acting differently. I notice that you always act differently around this time of year. I just wanted to make sure you're alright"
Your eyes locked on hers. The two of you stared at each other. Tension released from your shoulders as you spoke," Have you been in my head, Wanda?"
Wanda began to scramble," I'm sorry. I noticed how you had been acting, and I just wanted to make sure you were ok"
" I'm not mad, Wanda"
She squinted at you," You're not?"
You scooted closer to Wanda, close enough to put your hand on hers," No I'm not mad at you Wanda."
Wanda intertwined her fingers with yours and stared deeply into your eyes," Talk to me Y/n"
You take a few deep breaths, steeling yourself for a conversation that you hadn't yet had with anyone. Wanda didn't rush you. Her thumb was delicately tracing the back of your hand as she patiently waited for you.
" I have seasonal depression, diagnosed and everything. So during this time of year, things are just a little harder for me."
Wanda nods, " Is there anything I can do ?"
It's in that moment you realize how much has already been helping. She is by your side right now on Halloween, instead of being out celebrating with her friends. She has been doing so many little gestures that you've only just noticed.
" Hold me?"
She looked a little taken aback by your answer, which caused you to try to drop her hand. However, she wouldn't let you, instead she pulled you close against her chest.
You felt your shoulders relax into the woman, as her arms settled around you.
" Is this okay?" Her breath tickled the tip of your ear.
You looked up at her, eyes lingering on her lips slightly," Perfect"
She licked her lips, you couldn't tell if it was subconscious or not. All you knew is that you had to fight the urge to lick yours as well.
You turned away from her to focus on the movie that the both of you had forgotten. You tried your best to keep your attention on the movie, but you were having a hard time.
The feeling of warmth emanating from Wanda's body was lulling you to sleep, but at the same time keeping you wide awake.
" Y/n?"
You hummed in response.
Her fingers squeezed your sides, and she flipped you around. You were basically straddling her lap, and that made your heart thump against your chest.
" I want to kiss you"
You blinked a few times," You do?"
She didn't answer you with words, but instead hesitantly leaned in. She stopped a number of times until finally you grabbed her face, pulling her against you.
Her hands rested on your lower back to make sure you didn't fall off of the couch.
Though the initial motion may have been rough, it had only mellowed from there. Wanda was tentative with her lips. She was being gentle with you. The light pressure of her lips on yours nearly drove you crazy.
The kiss broke, but Wanda's arms stayed wrapped around you.
" I'm never letting go," she kissed the tip of your nose.
" Promise?"
Her lips pecked yours," Promise"
