Tom Riddle was not an ordinary boy. He was a manipulator at heart, tricking everyone into believing he was just as ordinary as they were. He did very normal things to sway them. One of those things was working. Tom had gotten a job at Borgin and Burkes. Though it was not the most desirable place to others it was perfect for Tom.

There was only one thing that worried him about working, Y/n. Y/n would come to the store almost everyday. Tom had known the Hufflepuff vaguely. She was probably the smartest of the house and rarely seeming like a Hufflepuff at all.

Y/n had a mean streak in her. She had been known to tell people off no matter who they were. One time she had even told Dumbledore to stop being so pretentious.

It was still weird that the young witch always found herself in the shop. She never bought anything, just looked around and then left. Tom thought maybe she was on to him. Maybe she found out about his intentions and was keeping an eye on him.

What he didn't know was that he wasn't entirely mistaken. The main reason Y/n went to the shop was in fact to see Tom. Not because she knew about his darkside but because she found herself crushing on the Slytherin boy.

What sane teenage girl wouldn't have a crush on Tom riddle. He was handsome, smart, and so very charming. Y/n thought he was the most brilliant person she'd ever met. Well she never quite met him but they knew of each other.

Today was one of those days where Y/n found herself in Borgin and Burkes. It was no longer creepy to her as she had been in it so many times now. She walked over to her usual section and stared at the items with little interest.

Tom had decided that enough was enough, he had to confront the girl. He strode over to her without her noticing," You're always in here Y/ln but I never see you buy anything."

" Is it a crime to look Riddle," she rebutted quickly, slightly nervous. " No I suppose not but you are here entirely too often for it not to be a tad suspicious. This is a very dodgy establishment and a Hufflepuff like yourself is very weary of such places."

Y/n laughed before finally giving Tom her full attention," There are no other Hufflepuffs like me. I'm one of a kind and if you want me to leave you'll have to try harder than that Tom."

Tom was about to just ban Y/n from the store entirely but she interrupted his thoughts, " I'll leave if you take me on a date."

This was a shock to Riddle and he couldn't stop the tint that fell upon his cheeks. The girl hadn't been following his schemes but just him. He had to admit that the Hufflepuff was very attractive.

" Oh, uh, a date? Yes. You and I of course. A date sounds um very pleasant. I..." Y/n couldn't help but to giggle at the flustered boy.

She kissed his cheek," I'll see you tonight at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour," and with that the Hufflepuff exited the store.

Tom was beyond nervous about his date because he had never been on an actual date. He tried to convince himself that it was no big deal, he would soon be the most powerful wizard in history; this date shouldn't have wound him up but it did.

Y/n on the other hand was ecstatic she finally got a date with undoubtedly the most handsome boy in the school. She was already counting down the hours until the date.

*A FEW HOURS LATER*

Y/n stepped into the ice cream shop and began searching for her date. She saw him alone at a table seemingly speaking to himself. As she approached him she began to hear him clearly," You've got this Tom it's just a date. Only a date, everyone goes on dates."

" You know talking to yourself like that doesn't look healthy," his attention snapped to her. He had a snarky reply ready to go but ended up speechless. Y/n's attire had made the young Slytherin speechless.

She hadn't worn anything too extravagant, just a cute green dress that stopped just above her knees. It was very simple yet still enough to impress the boy.

" You look magnificent," the words made the young girl blush and look down.

" Thank you."

It was at that moment Tom's vision had been changed. He always saw himself as the one true ruler of the magical realm but now right beside him was his queen Y/n.

In that moment he knew he'd have to do anything it took to get Y/n to love him, to see the genius behind his plans, to stay with him when he became Lord Voldemort.

" Let's get some ice cream," he grabbed her hand and led her to the line. Smiles lingered on both of their faces. Destinies forever intertwined at this moment.

As time went on the two became a couple. Tom Riddle had finally gotten Y/n to love him. He felt accomplished in that moment. When he told her everything she had no idea how to react. Y/n knew better but this was the love of her life. The feelings she had for Tom weren't so easily disposable.

She tried to tell him that she couldn't be with him and even tried avoiding him, but the young Riddle was persistent. He wanted Y/n almost more than anything. When Tom and Y/n had met again he told her that he'd do anything to be with her again. She told him that she couldn't be with Lord Voldemort she could only be with Tom Riddle.

He said that he couldn't do that. So she said her final goodbye to him. Young love torn apart by the ever so complex relationship between good and evil.
