2am
It was a pitch black night, rain pounded against the window as a storm raged on outside. It was the sound of thunder that had woken Y/n up but it was her phone ringing that caught her attention.
In her sleepy state she didn't bother checking the caller ID, opting to just put the phone to her ear," Hello."
" Hi Y/n"
That voice alone was enough to remove the girl from her groggy state.
" Kehlani?" Y/n couldn't believe it, it had to be a dream. Kehlani was not calling her phone at 2 in the morning.
" Ya, um do you think I could stop by and see you?"
Y/n was silent for a long moment. She knew letting Kehlani come over was a bad idea but she wanted answers. She deserved closure from what Kehlani did to her.
" Alright come through, it's storming so drive safe" Y/n didn't bother waiting for an answer before she hung up the phone.
She closed her eyes before letting out a loud sigh. Kehlani was the love of her life, Y/n would give it all up for the woman. In fact Y/n did give it all up; she dropped out of college, moved across states, even turned down her dream job to be with Kehlani.
In Y/n's opinion it must have not meant anything to the singer. She felt like she couldn't have possibly meant anything to Kehlani especially because of the way she dumped her.
She just left in the middle of night and never came back. It didn't make any sense to Y/n. Her ex always preached about being intune with your feelings and not being with the bullshit, so it didn't make sense for her to just leave.
Y/n called and texted the woman for about a month before she gave up. It was over and the nail in the coffin was seeing Kehlani with YG all over the internet.
Kehlani had never been one to hide her relationships so when the internet saw her with YG, they flooded Y/n's social media. Y/n didn't ever respond to their questions. Partly because she didn't know why Kehlani left her and partly because it was no ones fucking business.
That was maybe 2 years ago but Y/n has gotten her shit together since then. She went back to college and got her masters in music theory. She's worked on a couple of albums for other artists. A lot of people wouldn't know that because she worked under a pseudonym. She wasn't ready to be back in the spotlight especially since the last time people heard from her she was just Kehlani's ex.
Y/n never really dealt with the breakup besides the month of the trying to get a response. It was emotionally draining and Y/n decided if she was going to be drained she had to be working towards something she wanted.
It only made sense that now that she was finally getting somewhere in life, Kehlani had to come back around.
Y/n regretted telling her ex that she could stop by as soon as she heard the doorbell ring. Nonetheless, it was storming harder than before and she wouldn't leave Kehlani out in the rain.
Footsteps echoed lightly on the wooden floor of the house as Y/n made her way to the door. She didn't immediately open the door when she arrived at it. Instead she found herself looking through the peephole.
Kehlani was standing on the porch doing her best to conceal herself from the rain. She had on a grey sweatshirt and grey sweatpants to match. Her hair was covered by a cap but Y/n assumed it was just in a ponytail.
Sizing up the woman made Y/n hesitant to open the door. Kehlani looked good, I mean she always looked good but this would be the first time Y/n saw her in person since her abrupt departure.
