It had only been a day since you had met Poison Ivy; the most enthralling woman you've ever come across. She agreed to help you with your Murphy's law situation.
It was decided that you'd meet up with her everyday after work so she could see the bad luck in action.
" I could have never imagined that a pretty little flower like yourself could be working at such an ugly little factory"
She was standing on the rooftop of your workplace with a disapproving smile on her lips.
" Trust me I didn't want to work here but the factory is the only place that would hire after all of my letter of recommendations"
Her eyebrow quirks up ," Murphy's law?"
" Oh most definitely. I've gotten fired from every job that I've ever had because of events I could never really control. The factory doesn't fire anyone for mistakes, they can't afford to. They just take it out of your check"
She nods to herself," So what was your dream job? "
You chuckle to yourself at the thought of your forgotten passion. There was no way you could do the job without hurting yourself or someone else.
" Believe it or not I wanted to be a baker but Murphy's Law and food don't go well together. Everything would be burnt or raw, I'd probably would set the kitchen on fire, and manage to give everyone food poisoning"
She let a small smile grace her lips," I think you'd look cute in one of those little baker hats"
You could feel the back of your neck heating up," So what should we do today?"
" I want you to do what you'd normally do in a day and then we'll add some variance as time goes on"
You didn't do much in a day besides work and go home. Work was over so you walked home. Ivy trailed behind you a few paces. To you the walk was normal but Ivy was completely taken aback.
Every few steps you took a danger presented itself. You were used to it so it was easy for you to avoid them all without inconvenience. By the end of the first block you had avoided falling into the sewer, getting hit by a glass door, a bucket of paint that fell from the sky, and a car accident.
" How far do you live from work?"
" Just 2 blocks"
The second block was like the first block where you narrowly escaped the natural chaos that followed behind you.
You lived in an apartment building that was only slightly better than the one Harley, Ivy, and Selena stayed at. Once inside the building you went straight for the stairs.
" You're not taking the elevator?"
You shook your head rapidly," I haven't taken an elevator since the time I got stuck in one with Bane"
Ivy couldn't hold back her laughter," I'm sorry but how does that happen?"
" You just have to be really really unlucky," you look back at her but at that moment you lost your footing.
You were expecting to fall down the two stairs that you had just climbed. However you felt something wrap around your waist steadying you before you tumbled to the floor.
You look down to see a vine around your waist and Ivy not far behind it," Don't worry little flower, I'd never let you fall. Not even in the name of unbiased scientific results"
You could feel your whole body begin to sweat," Thanks Ivy"
You hurry up the stairs this time careful not to misstep. When you got to the door you stuck your key in but it broke off in the doorknob. You roll your eyes and bent down to get a pair of tweezers and spare key from under your doormat.
