Life had a cruel way of punishing those who tried to rewrite fate. No matter how pure the intentions of the person were, life responded with a backhand to the face.

The universe would always balance itself out when everything was said and done. That's what Stephen had told Y/n, and he was right.

Maybe it was selfish of her to wish the world had forgotten her identity after the Mysterio. However, it was hurting everyone around the woman. She admittedly wasn't thinking clearly, but how was she supposed to predict what would happen?

All she knew was that every major news outlet was headlined Y/n L/n, The Spider. She thought there would be a grace period after it all. That people would be crazy about it for a little, and then it would just go away.

I mean, everyone knew the identity of the Avengers, and they got to have their lives. So why couldn't she have hers?

All Y/n wanted was to live a normal life out of your suit. Instead, she ended up as the loneliest person in the multiverse. The Spider lived on, but the girl behind the mask lost everything and everyone.

Y/n began doing rounds to see if anyone remembered her. Her friends didn't remember, Happy didn't remember her, not even Stephen remembered.

The only person left on her list was Wanda Maximoff. The witch was the last person on her list because she would be the hardest to see.

Y/n and Wanda had history with each other. They knew each other like Romeo knew Juliet. In a similar fashion they fell apart because of a rivalry amongst the family. Wanda fought by Steve's side, while Y/n stood by Tony. Their relationship didn't survive the fallout of the battle.

The thought of seeing Wanda made Y/n nervous. To aid with her nerves, she put on her costume and swung all the way to the witch's house. The feeling of the air passing her by as her webs held her weight was one of the most freeing feelings in the universe.

Everything didn't seem so hopeless when she was flying in the air.

When she had a view of Wanda's house, she abandoned her webs. Each step felt heavier than the last as she walked to the front porch.

She unmasked herself, looking down at what was a symbol of hope to many citizens. With a heavy sigh, she stuffed it in her bag.

Y/n's nerves prevented her from knocking on the door. Instead, she shot a web at the doorbell. Her hands then folded together as she awaited for someone to open the door.

It hadn't been a second before the girl decided this was a mistake. She went to turn away, but then the door was quickly opened.

There she was, face to face with her ex lover. A woman that potentially thought she was a random stranger knocking on her door. The stare she received from the woman was intense, potentially hostile.

" What are you doing here, Y/n?"

The webslinger was frozen. Wanda remembered her. Across the multiverse, the name Y/n L/n meant nothing to anyone. There was not a single record of that person ever existing, but here, on this front porch, Wanda Maximoff knew who she was.

Y/n couldn't help it as the tears welled in her eyes. She couldn't stop herself from grasping onto the witch and sobbing into her shirt.

Her body shook violently as Wanda worked to hold her up. The red head's arms wrapped themselves instinctively around the girl's waist.

Wanda didn't know what was wrong with her, but seeing Y/n breakdown like this hurt her deeply.

" I've got you, Y/n," that only seemed to make the woman cry harder.
