Chapter 23: Upgrade

Alex's POV:

The next day shined on my eyes. So I got up and boiled water to make some tea. I went in the bathroom for the usual shower with clean clothes being laid. After I finished I put the new clothes on and took the tea with me to the mess hall to drink with the breakfast. On my way out all eyes were on me, more than usual. When I got in the mess hall, all eyes were also on me making me uncomfortable. It must be about how the mission went or something. I took my tray and went to an empty booth. Half way into my food, Mike sat across

Mike: "good morning" he greeted

"Good morning" I also greeted

Mike: "good job on your first mission, lad" he complimented

"Thanks" I said while taking sip of my tea

Mike: "you know the chefs also make a good cup of tea" he said commenting at my own tea

"Yeah but I like my tea more" I responded

Mike: "understandable. Have a good day will ya" he said while getting up

"Hey Mike ? People are giving me strange looks, more than usual. Is it because of the mission ?" I asked

Mike: "Harry released your evaluation yesterday" and then he walked. I took a look around and saw that some people were still looking at me

I took out Rainbow's phone and went to my profile, I saw just beneath my public file with the evaluation report. Which had my psychology profile and gadget report. I didn't dare to read it because of the possibility of not liking any of it. I continued on eating my food till I finished. I got up and threw my trash away. I wanted to visit Zofia in the infirmary so I started walking there. Shortly I arrived and asked Lera for directions to Zofia's room. I knocked on the door a few times and heard a 'come in'

"Hey Zofia" I greeted her. She was on the bed with Ela next to her

Zofia: "hello Alex"

"How're you feeling ?" I was checking up on her

Zofia: "I talked to my daughter today, thanks to you" she said

"Nah cmon, I was only doing my job" i said trying to brush off the unnecessary compliment

Zofia: "I'm here breathing and talking with my sister, and my daughter is not motherless because of you, please just accept my thanks" she genuinely said while Ela and her gave me serious stares

"You're welcome, ma'am" I replied back

Ela: "can I talk to you outside please ?" She asked me ?

"Sure" she got up. I turned to Zofia

"Is her gun on her right now ?" I said in a low voice and Zofia shook her head no. Thank god

"So what do you need ?" I asked after we walked out

Ela: "I'm sorry..." she.. apologized ?

"Umm. It's.. alright. Dont worry about it"

Ela: "no, just let me. ever since you joined us I've been giving you shit because what you did in training. But now, you saved my sister from certain death. And not only that, you know Polish and all I've been doing is cussing you not knowing you understood every word of it. I am so sorry"

"Its ok, Ela. Its alright" I tried calming her down

Ela: "No! How can you be this calm ?"

"Cuz I get where you're coming from. I've hurt your sister on my first day here, so I get why you were mean to me"
