Mikki's POV"I can't believe it! After a very long years nandito na ulit tayo! I wonder kung kilala pa tayo ng classmates natin dati," Lea chortled as we walked into the administration office.
We were in grade two then when our parents decided to migrate in L.A, but after nine years, her and my parents who apparently are best of friends and business partners suddenly decided to go back here in the Philippines and stay for good for whatever reasons. Though, I don't want to, we don't have a choice.
I hate adjustments.
"Miss Torres, what course would you like to take?" the administrator asked.
"Civil Engineering," I answered curtly.
"Okay then, this is your schedule. The start of the class will be next monday. Welcome back to the both of you," she said while smiling widely at us.
We shook hands afterwards. It was quite long because Lea had a small talk with the administrator. I was kinda bored there to be honest, but I don't want to be rude to kill their conversation, so, I just endured it all.
"Akalain mo yun, natandaan pa tayo ng matandang yun, at akalain mo din yun, dito na sa shool na ‘to siya tumanda!" Lea giggled.
Napailing na lang ako. Lea's mouth was unstoppable. Everyone says we are very opposite with each other and most of them nagtataka how we got close.
"Miss! Miss wait!" I heard it, and will just about to ignore it, but Lea held me on my wrist to stop me from walking, "Ang bilis niyong maglakad, oh.." the guy said while handing us some papers.
"What's that?" Lea asked after glancing at me confusedly.
"Schedule, naiwan niyo. Pinahabol lang sakin ni Admin"
"Oh, sorry! Naistorbo ka pa.. Anyways, thanks!" said Lea as she grabbed the papers and quickly gave it to me, "Memory gap," she chuckled.
I started walking again when I realized Lea didn't follow. My forehead creased as I looked over my shoulder and saw her still standing there with the guy.
“Lea..” I called.
Lea ran to me after politely bidding goodbye to him then hit my arm suddenly, “You're so rude! You should've said your gratitude!" she said.
My eyebrow raised but I didn't respond.
"Fine. You don't feel like talking. But you know what? That guy looked familiar. Siguro isa siya sa naging classmate natin dati"
I just shrugged my shoulders. No faces are familiar to me here. Even those names of our classmates back then isn't familiar as well because I'm just not simply interested before until now.
"Ivan!" someone shouted. "Kanina pa kita hinahanap, kanina pa sila naghihintay satin!" Another guy said as he walked past us.
"He's familiar, too," Lea whispered.
Napailing na lang ako.
"Hindi ako makakatulog nito. Wait lang ha," sabi pa niya, saka lumapit sa lalaking nag-abot samin ng schedules namin at sa kasama niya.
I could only sighed for I don't have any choice but to wait and watched my bestfriend approached those strangers.
"Excuse me.."
"Yes, Miss? Anything I can do for yo-- Lea?!" one guy exclaimed as he seemed so shocked seeing Lea.
"Sabi ko na nga ba, kilala kita e. You look familiar so, I thought naging classmates tayo dati?" Lea queried.
"Yeah. Hindi mo ba ako natatandaan? Ako si Hans! And this is Ivan!"
"Hans? Yung kapitbahay nila Mikki?"
"Yeah. So, kamusta ka na? Long time no see!"
"Eto lalong gumanda. So, siya si Ivan? Teka, parang wala naman akong kilalang Ivan dati?"
I shook my head and turned my back on them. I'd rather wait in the car than watch and listen to their reminiscents.
"Haha, si Lance. Ivan Lance Meneses. Si President!" a guy exclaimed.
President? Who? The taller guy?
But unfortunately, nothing rings the bell for me because I didn't really bother knowing them back then. What for? I already have Lea ever since, I don't need more friends.
And I don't overthink.
I'm the type of person who doesn't mind other people, literally.
I heard Lea called out my name that caused my steps to halt again. I frowned at her as I looked at her questioningly.
Meanwhile, Lea smiled brightly in return, “Where are you going? Don't you remember them? They are our classmates from prep to grade two!” she exclaimed happily.
I simply shook my head in response as I scanned the faces of the two guys. However, my gazes took longer for the one who handed us our schedule just because he was looking at me weirdly.
“Sorry.. She's really forgetful when it comes to people,” Lea apologized.
My brows knitted at that as I turned at her.
“Ayos lang. It's been eight years so, its understandable”
“See you sa pasukan?”
“Of course! What courses you enrolled ba? Baka may ka-block kami sa inyo?”
“Business management..”
“Civil Engineer”
Instantly, my gazes drifted back to the taller guy. Our eyes then met again, and his stares never changed.
Weirdo.
I was about to divert my eyes from him when he suddenly smiled. “It's been awhile.. Miss Vice,” he said.
