MISS NOT PERFECT

CHAPTER 24

I turned off my phone.

Balderdash.

I continued walking towards Greg. He's waiting for me and Maycy. This is the day Maycy decided to live with us. Mom and Dad begged her to move.

"Tara?" Greg asked. Maycy's already inside the car so I nodded.

My phone keeps on ringing.

"Answer the phone Miks" sabi ni Maycy.

I shook my head and turned it off. It's annoying.

"Bukas na ang actual exam niyo? Are you sure hindi ka sasali sa kanila?" Maycy asked.

"I'm not included" I replied.

"Then do Ella's character"

"Not interested"

The both of them sighed.

I emerged in the car, Mom and Dad was waiting for us.

"Ang mga babies ko!"

They hugged us. As usual. They just told us what happened to them when they were away from us. We're on the middle of talking about studies when the doorbell rang.

"Ako na po" sabi ni Greg.

Greg stood up and went to the door.

"Ang hot ng boylet mo Maycy anak. I'm so proud of you! Ikaw baby Mikki, when will we meet the lucky guy?" Mom asked. Tss.

I shook my head.

"She's not interested Mom" Maycy chuckled.

Dad just nodded.

"No way! Sa ganda mong yan? Naku! Ang beauty natin, dapat nirarampa! Mana ka talaga sa tatay mo" Mom shook her head.

Greg showed up and called me. "Miks, may bisita ka"

I raised my eyebrows. Who would it be?

Then, I saw Mr President entering the house. Mom stood up and welcomed the unexpected visitor.

"Are you courting my daughter?" My protective Dad asked immediately that made Mr President shocked for a second. He immediately shook his head after he recovered.

"What brought you here then?" Dad's follow up question.

"Gusto ko lang pong iconvince si Mikki na sumali sa roleplay, baka po kasi bumagsak siya sa comarts, 50% po kasi ng exam namin yun"

"Gale" Dad's using his authoritive tone.

I just shrugged and Dad sighed.

Dad never asked me to do anything that would satisfies him, instead, he uses someone to do that for him. I knew it.
But he knew I wouldn't give him a failing grades. He trusted me that much.

"Go sit here kid. We have to go. Gale and Maycy, asikasuhin niyo ang mga bisita niyo. May meeting pa kami" sabi ni Dad then he stood up.

"Sorry hijo a, I think it's rude but we really have to go, magkwentuhan tayo next time, welcome ka na dito sa bahay. Ciao! Babies! Aalis na muna si Mommy at Daddy! Bye!"

I sighed on Mom's actions. She's such a kid.

"Parents mo pala sila?" Mr President asked pagkaalis nila Mom.

I shrugged.

"I know them. They're one of the stockholders of our school. And this is your house?"

I shrugged again. This is such a boring conversation.

"Bakit hindi mo sinabi? Para hindi ka na napagchismisan?"

"Because she doesn't care what people around her may say" Kerr interfered.

I heard Maycy and Greg's chuckling beside me.

"Oh? What are you doing here guys?" dumating na din si Lea. "Ivan? Why are you here?"

"Pinapabalik na si Mikki, teka, bakit nandito si Greg at Maycy?" Mr President looked confused.

"He doesn't have any idea," Greg chuckled.

"Well" sagot naman Maycy. "I'm Mikki's sister" Maycy extends her hand to Mr President.

He's eyes widened.

"Tulala ka na dyan" Lea elbowed him.

Mr. President cleared his throat and accepted Maycy's hand and shook his head in disbelief.

"You are a good liar," he said when our eyes met and then he turned his back and left without bidding goodbye.

"Rude. Tss" Kerr commented.

I just shrugged.

"Sobrang nashock siguro sa pasabog mo" Lea defended. "Bakit ba kasi hindi mo sinabi?"

"No one asked about it" I replied.

"Sabagay, typical Mikki Gale Torres"

I woked up four in the morning and I received a phone call coming from unregistered number. But this is new, not the familiar one that consistently texting me everyday.

I declined it.

But minutes later, I received a text coming from the same digits.

Details about TJ. Meet me at the park. 6am.

I stood up and do my morning rituals. Can't wait to know the detail she's pertaining to.

TJ.

How did she know?

Exactly 6am, I'm here at the park, I saw Ella sitting on the swing.

"You came" She smirked.

I looked at her and frowned.

She gestured me to sit on the swing beside her but I stayed standing. I saw her shaking her head.

"I lied. I'm sorry. I know you wouldn't bother come when I say I wanted to talk to you personally, so I used the 'TJ thing'. I just knew that thing is somewhat important to you, but I knew nothing about it. I'm really sorry" She said.

I released sighed. I wasted and still wasting my time now.

"I have a flu, hindi ko kayang magperform mamaya as Juliet because I needed a rest."

I shook my head.

"Please? They can't perform without Juliet"

I sighed and turn my back on her. I didn't bother looking back and walked home.

Kerr, Maycy and Lea are waiting for me at the gate. We went to school before seven. While we're walking at the hallway, four people blocked our way.

"Mikki!" someone said. "Buti maaga ka! Pwede bang ikaw na ulit si Juliet? Memorized mo na kasi yung line, tumawag yung yaya ni Ella, nakaconfine daw, hindi kami makakapagperform ng walang Juliet si Romeo. Please Mikki pumayag ka na! Para sa grades din natin to"

I just looked at them blankly.

"Not interested" I said and passed them by.

They followed me while keep on blabbering. I got pissed. They're annoying.

"Please Mikki?" they said in unison.

I took a long sigh. "K" and said.

To make them stopped, I agreed.

We went on the backstage and they gave me the dress I would wear. No rehearsals. We're out of time. The start of the play is 7:30am. I saw Mr President and ignored me.

"Miks!"

I heard Lea's voice and I saw them waving.

"The Juliet role is really meant for you" Maycy commented.

"Guys! Get ready! Start na!" the acting director shouted.

My friends left and meddled with the other students at the audience section. The curtain swang open and the program has started. Me acting as a Juliet.

"Romeo and Juliet has a kissing scene" the acting director said.
