Persacom part 2

A/n: ok I know this AU is super niche and not everyone has seen chobits but I genuinely love it so this is definitely self indulgent. Request will be back soon btw! They're still closed and now that I've finished case file L Lawliet I've been working on getting the missed requests done. But for now, take this.

So you've managed to figure out how your new persacom worked... kind of.

L, that's what you named him, had a learning AI installed. So he copied your actions and would learn how to act human by watching you and other people. With your limited knowledge of technology, you plugged him into your computer to try and figure more out but unfortunately his files were locked via password. Looks like you'd have to find someone to hack into him, but for now you had another problem to tackle.

Clothes.

He didn't have any, he was stuck wearing what whatever of yours fit him. He and other persacoms looked and acted  so human that it's not like he can just walk around naked even if he is technically a robot. You were a bit worried to take him out, since he was still not very verbal and learning how to function properly but you didn't have much of a choice. He needed clothes.

So, you dressed him up as best as you could in whatever you had that fit him and it was off to attempt shopping with him.

"Alright, you follow me ok? Don't go anywhere else. Just follow me" You explained.

That quiet whirling sound of his inner computer could be heard as he processed the information.

"L follow (y/n)" he said.

"That's right, now come with me"

You locked the door to your apartment and headed down the stairs out to the entrance where you happened to be met with the land lady. This might be awkward, you didn't have a persacom when you moved in and could barely afford anything other than rent. Hopefully she didn't think you stole it or something.

"Good morning Miss (l/n)" she said, not looking away from her flowers she was gardening.

"Morning" you replied.

Again you could hear that electric whirling.

"Morning" L repeated.

The landlady turned her head in shock almost, it was like she's heard the voice before.

"Oh! It's a persacom. I didn't know you had one" she said.

"It's a... long story" you replied.

She walked over to take a look at L, and seemed to be inspecting him almost.

"A custom model" she noted.

"Yeah, I found him just thrown out in a pile of junk but he works fine. Apart from his limited knowledge of the world yet, he's got some kind of learning AI. I don't know what program he is or what model he is, I don't even know why someone would throw him out" you replied.

"If he's custom he probably runs on a custom program too, I've not seen one like him before"

L turned to the land lady after listening to her words, he pointed at himself.

"Custom?" He asked.

"You definitely look like it" she replied.

"(Y/n) what custom?"

"Uhh... like a one of a kind. Special edition" you explained.

"L custom?"

"Yes"

The land lady snickered at bit at his name being rather odd, not expecting a letter.

"L?" She questioned.
