Gay ass headcanons.

Hello gals and gays, because let's be honest that's my entire audience.

Since I've had my trans awakening, and I'm actively seeing someone for HRT, I've begun to the do the thing all queers do when they're awakened.

Label all their fav characters as some kind of queer.

And you know what? If L is out here canonically crossdressing, then fuck it. I'm making him a lil fruity. I'm fully aware in canon man's is just a cis-het cross dresser. But this is a fanfic so I can do what I want.

So, I'm going to dump my gender/sexuality head canons for the DN cast here.

L, the bestest baby:

An any pronouns kind of gender queer. He doesn't care what people see him as, but likes to confuse people and play around with androgyny. So sometimes he'll slap on a dress, be a girl for a day. Sometimes he'll prefer not to be perceived and hide from everyone. If he has to fill out a form, he'll put an X over the gender part to make it clear he doesn't see or care for gender.

He's aware he mostly passes as male, but tries to confuse people and be more androgynous at times. Basically just ask them what they feel like when they wake up that day and he'll give you the rundown.

Doesn't feel the need for any surgeries, but has considered a low dose of HRT just to soften up his features and become a little more androgynous. Maybe grow out the hair a bit too. He wants to be pretty like a girl, but not FULLY a girl you know? He's a little bit of a femboy, when the mood strikes. Keeps the name L Lawliet because it's pretty and sounds rather androgynous anyway.

As for sexuality he doesn't label it. It takes him a REALLY long time to trust and get close to people anyway so while he does acknowledge people are pretty he'd probably not fall for someone at first sight. Basically if he finds someone that he trusts, loves and is patient with him, he'll just go for it regardless.

Near:

THIS IS A NON BINARY AND YOU CANT TELL ME OTHERWISE.

I KNOW THIS BECAUSE SO AM I.

They'd describe their gender as nothing. They just exist, not a girl not a boy. They just are. Expressed this by growing out hair and getting a light dose of HRT to level out features and get more androgynous. Always marks the gender section on papers as 'other' or and X, and will literally throw the paper out and refuse to fill it out. of there isn't an option for it.

Keeps the name Near because it's already fairly androgynous. The real name Nate is never really used anyway, so they don't bother with it.

Mello:

Will admit that Matt was kind of his awakening, but only if you promise to keep it a secret.

He's pretty meh about gender. Is fine being perceived as a boy so doesn't feel the need to change anything, although some may call him a bit girly because of his love for tight pants and shoulder length hair. He just calls it being fashion forward.

Doesn't care about his name either way. Keeps both Maihel and Mello
