A/n: absolutely wild idea that came to me bc of the new adventure time spin off haha.
There were a million different universes, and it was your job to keep them from causing mass destruction. Being a somewhat deity type being wasn't too bad, you say in your safe little space in the expanse of the universe and watched over everything. You didn't intervene unless some wild shit was going down that needed to be stopped or changed in order to prevent mass destruction. You flipped through all the universes, looking for any mishaps and you fixed what needed to be fixed.
It could be a bit boring at times, but the multitude of universes meant there was always something entertaining to watch somewhere. Although recently you'd been keeping an eye on this one universe that had a mass death event going on. A death note had been dropped and some insane guy had picked it up and started killing criminals in hopes of becoming a god. This L guy seemed to know what he was doing when it came to stopping him, so you let him do his thing. Keeping an eye on everything just in case things went south.
And just today, things went south. You watched as the shinigami began to write his name down, and immediately you perked up and freaked out.
"Shit! If he dies then Light will keep the Kira stuff up for years and permanently damage that universes balance of law and order- fuck- fuck- fuck" you muttered, fumbling for your keyboard that controlled everything you watched.
The first thing you thought to do was stop L from dying. But if his name was already written down then it was set in stone... unless, he was inside your safe zone. Quickly cutting him from his world and pasting him into your room, you watched as just in time he vanished from his desk and stumbled into your room.
"Wh- wait- what the-" he muttered, looking around.
"Oh thank fuck I was quick enough..." you sighed in relief.
L looked around, thoroughly confused. The room he was in was plain, a screen on the wall and various seemingly random objects of yours scattered about. Before him was you, sitting in your chair with your keyboard in your lap. There was something otherworldly about you, you had a human shape but there was something... something about you.
"What just- am I dead?" L asked.
"Well, yes and no. Your name is on death note paper so if I put you back you'd die. But as long as you're I'm this room you're safe, nothing can die or be harmed here" you replied.
L was silent a moment, his brain completely short circuiting. One moment he's looking at his screen reading 'all data deletion' and the next he's in this weird room talking to a weird person.
"Who are you? What is this place?" He asked.
"I'm (y/n) and this is my safe zone. You're gonna have to sit here a while while I figure out how to fix things, sorry" you replied.
"That tells me nothing"
"I'm a guardian. I watch over the universes and make sure there's no mass destruction or fucked up realities. And you dying would absolutely fuck up your universe so I bought you here to keep you alive until I can figure out what to do"
You looked over at the screen, the taskforce extremely confused as to what the fuck just happened. Where did L go? He was just here a second ago, they blinked and he was gone. Kira couldn't do something like that.
"Ah shit- your dad died too, now I gotta find a way to save both of you. Maybe I can replace past you with current you and you can get the death note before lig- wait no... it's Rem that actually kills you, at Lights request... hmm..." you rambled.
L was baffled, none of this made sense. He had already come to terms with the fact some kind of supernatural power existed. He'd seen shinigami and the power of the death note. But the death note said nothing about a multiverse with a guardian that watched over it and fixed problems.
