Oh how you hated winter. A little chill was nice, you can sit under a blanket relatively comfortably. But when it dropped to freezing you were ready to fight the clouds for the sun to come back.
The kind of freezing that no blanket or heater could fix, the kind that left your feet cold even in socks, the kind that made your nose chill and gave you the sniffles. God it sucked.
And right now it was that kind of freezing, it'd ruined your whole mood really. You were so nice and warm in bed and then when you got up to go downstairs to work, the cold hit you like an avalanche. But, you had to work.
So you put on an extra jumper, dragged your blanket down with you and sat your cold self in front of the heater with your laptop. How L was sitting at his desk in just a shirt and jeans you had no idea. The man was a stick, and had no iron on that body of his, how was he not freezing too?
Even with the heating on, the taskforce could really feel the chill in the air. Most of them had an extra coat on, or put some slippers on to stay warm as they worked. And there was L, barefoot, only one layer and seemingly hadn't moved from his desk all day. How did this man survive like that? You could barely focus because of the cold.
And because you couldn't focus on work, you got up from your spot in front of the heater and shuffled over to L in your blanket.
"Oi, ice pop man" you teased.
"Hm? Wait ice po- I'm it even going to ask. What is it?" He replied, not even looking away from his screen.
You reached down and touched his hand, catching him off guard.
"Fuck your hands are freezing! How are you not cold?" You asked.
"I am, everyone is"
"So why don't you put on a jumper?"
"I have to finish this"
Of course. That man was such a workaholic, it was getting kind of ridiculous.
"Oh for god sakes-" you sighed.
You dragged the little floor heater from your spot over to his, and turned it up some more. Also taking your laptop and putting it beside his you were on a mission to get this man to use some common sense in his self care for once.
"Move" you said.
"Huh? What are you-" He replied.
You pushed him over slightly, and squeezed into the seat next to him wrapping your blanket over him as well.
"There. Now you won't give yourself frostbite, and I can steal some of your body heat to actually focus on work" you said, matter of factly.
He was silent a moment, processing what you just did. He wasn't going to complain, he was warm now, and he had some company with him too. A slight smile cracked on his lips, and he just turned back to his laptop.
"Alright, suit yourself" he said.
"I will, and suiting myself means making you're you're warm too" you replied.
No further words had to be exchanged, you were both on the same wavelength. Continuing work, you stayed snuggled together in the warmth like penguins huddling for body heat. The taskforce who'd come and go from the room while working seemed to be a bit confused as to why you were squished into the same chair wrapped up in a blanket nest, but decided not to question it. You and L always had a strange 'we're touchy feely' relationship.
The taskforce didn't quite know if you were just close like that, or if there was some kind of flirtation-ship going on. They just let it happen, the two of you were rather polarising members of the taskforce anyway so it was a match made in Valhalla.
