A/n: because what disorders L has is up for debate I'll leave it up to you. But in this particular oneshot he suffers sensory issues as a symptom.
L was always a bit strange, but then again so were you. You both had your issues, some similar and some different, but you were sure that was why you and L got along better than the rest of the taskforce. All of them were from a different generation and completely mentally healthy. You and L on the other hand have had your fair share of struggles and understood psychology better than the others. L because he has done more cases than anyone in taskforce combined and knew a lot about criminal psychology. You because you were a psychology professional that gets bought in for cases.
And of course, personal experience with your own minds.
So the two do you tended to drift toward each other in group settings. He wasn't going to ridicule you for your need to have everything perfectly lined up and you weren't going to side eye him for sitting funny. It was a mutual respect and understanding.
"L?"
He looked up at you as you approached his desk, listening to what you had to say. You put the stack of papers you were carrying on his desk and slid them over to him.
"The psychological profile on Kira is done. I'll admit it was a bit difficult to profile him since this case is so strange and complicated, but I did what I could based off the evidence we have. If a suspect fits this profile, it's likely they're Kira" you said.
He picked up the papers, and scanned them through his mind taking in all your information. He read fast, that always impressed you. You often needed to read things a few times to remember all the details.
"Hmm, your observation about a god complex is exactly what I was thinking. And the point about not being able to definitely say if it's a case of psychopathy or sociopathy is also a good point, we don't know enough about him to make a conclusive decision" L commented.
"That's the part that frustrated me so much, I wish I could say for sure which is more likely but I can't with so little knowledge on him. But the god complex part is definitely an easy to spot symptom here. He's a textbook example of it" you replied.
L flipped the page and scanned through that one as well, looking into all the details you'd managed to dig up.
"When you say cluster B disorder, you're referring to Narcissistic personality disorder or histrionic personality disorder correct?" L asked.
"Yes, they're the most likely candidates. Theres a potential for antisocial personality disorder too. Although I don't think it would be borderline. There's more on the next few pages about it. But I'd put my bets on a cluster B disorder, as one of the symptoms common with them is a grandiose sense of self" you replied.
"Your work is impressive as always (y/n), I'll definitely be looking further into this"
"Thank you. To be honest I feel a bit bad about diagnosing without actually having met the person in question... since I don't want to demonise any disorders or make assumptions. But in this case to profile Kira I have to jump to a few conclusions and we can refine when we catch him"
L understood that feeling. It was annoying when people tried to armchair diagnose you, especially when they don't know much about how disorders actually work. But he trusted your judgement as someone extensively studied in psychology. And unfortunately profiling a criminal without much information is necessary in a lot of cases to make progress. Although there was absolutely no doubt about the fact Kira had an unchecked and untreated god complex as a symptom.
"Out of curiosity (y/n)..." L began.
"Hm?"
"What would you diagnose me with? Just from your current knowledge on me"
