Sneak away

What do you do when your parents who are already needlessly controlling find out you've been seeing a boy from the orphanage behind their backs? Well you sit in your room all month because of a good old grounding.

You had no idea why they hated the idea of you dating an orphan boy. Any other kid at school and they'd probably let it slide... with a bunch of rules of course. But for some reason the fact he attends the smart kid orphanage/school three blocks down made them want nothing to do with them.

They hadn't even met him...

You'd think the fact that orphanage is known for incredibly intelligent kids would make him seem appealing right? Well that orphanage is also known for kids there having serious trauma form their home lives before they were orphaned. And you close minded, strict ass parents think that means despite that boy being smart he must be crazy or something.

Well, he's a bit weird yeah. But so are you. And even if he has some baggage that doesn't mean he's a bad person. If they actually took the time to meet him and talk to him they'd see he's probably the best person you could be sneaking around with. He's no bad influence, if anything you were the bad influence. He's smart, he's well spoken, he's not amazing at socialising but when he trusts someone he'd do anything for them, he's over cautious making him a protective and safe person too.

And he's world's greatest detective L... but they don't need to know that detail. You're lucky you know that detail.

You'd known each other for years, you'd run into each other at the same ice cream place on the weekends. But it wasn't until last year you actually got into some serious romance, you know your parents wouldn't approve so you kept it secret and snuck around with him when you said you'd be going to the library to study or staying late after school.

In reality you'd be getting ice cream or hanging out back at the orphanage solving cases, maybe hanging out at the park after dark, carving hearts into trees and all the usual teenage romance stuff.

And somehow, you got caught.

That of course sparked yet another huge argument between you and your parents. You saying that L was amazing and they just needed to give him a chance and you're almost an adult and can make your own decisions now. And them saying that school is more important than hanging out with some orphan kid.

You see, strict parents don't raise model children. They raise sneaky children.

No matter how many times they told you to stop seeing him, you'd find a way. As soon as you'd graduated at the end of the year, you were absolutely going to pack your bags and take off with L on one of his cases. You'll be legal then, your parents can't stop you.

But right now you were stuck in your room grounded as usual. You'd been grounded what, 8 times this year? All for at least a month each. Didn't stop you from sneaking out of course, but damn it make things really boring whenever your parents were home and you had to pretend you were obeying them.

The stack of homework on your desk was half done, you didn't bother with the rest. As long as you got a pass it didn't matter to you if you didn't get a perfect score. It was late, you couldn't sleep and you were bored out of your mind.

That was until you were startled by the mop that sat down the side of the house popping up in your window as if it was floating. Confused you walked over to the window and almost lost your shit when you saw who it was.

Opening the window you looked down at your no longer secret boyfriend.

"Using my own trick huh?" You laughed.

"You said it yourself, throwing rocks makes too much noise. Better just to find something tall to get your attention" L replied.

"Aren't I usually the one standing outside your window at night? What's the sudden change?"
