"I wish we met sooner," Jimin sighs contentedly, leaning into the couch as he sits sideways, watching Jungkook work on a class project.
This scene has become quite common for them over the last few weeks. Ever since the ballet, they have been spending more time together, be it at the coffee shop or their apartment, sometimes with Yoongi and Hoseok but mostly just them. It was now the highlight of Jungkook's day to hang out with his roommate, even if all they did was study in the library in silence. Just being with Jimin, regardless of feelings, was so nice.
They'd often get lost in conversation for hours, much like what was happening that Saturday afternoon as they waited for Yoongi and Hoseok to come by. Jungkook found it easy to draw with Jimin around and hold easy conversations, unable to overthink when he kept his hands busy by making art. The distraction wasn't always in his favor though.
"We have," Jungkook thoughtlessly says, freezing when he realizes and immediately going wide-eyed, wishing he could take it back.
"We have?" Jimin asks, tilting his head like a curious puppy. "When?"
"Two years ago," Jungkook says, barely glancing over to Jimin as he does. He hopes that's enough but based on the confused look Jimin is giving him he feels the need to continue. "I was lost in the arts building and you helped me find the room I was looking for."
"Wait, I think I remember this," Jimin says as the epiphany hits. "Freshmen with the doe eyes was you?!"
"Um apparently," Jungkook mutters, feeling himself blush as he looks back to his iPad to avoid eye contact.
"Wow, who would have thought," Jimin muses. "You look so different now. Well except for the doe eyes."
"No I don't," Jungkook defends, looking over at Jimin with a pout.
"Yes, you do. At least from what I remember."
"You didn't seem to remember me when we met at orientation though," Jungkook says, wanting to smack himself for doing so.
"Is that why you acted weird? Cause I didn't recognize you?" Jimin questions, cocking a curious eyebrow at him which just makes Jungkook wish the couch could swallow him out of this conversation. "Kook-ah I hadn't seen you in two years, how was I supposed to remember you?"
"I remembered you," Jungkook mutters, dropping his gaze to the iPad fully knowing he wasn't going to get any more drawing done.
"After a five-minute conversation?"
"Yeah," Jungkook answers. "You're kind of unforgettable."
Jungkook looks over at the elder again who is looking back at him, taken aback at the comment. Jungkook can hear his heartbeat pounding in his head as he nervously waits for Jimin to say something. But the moment is interrupted when there is a knock at the door.
"That must be the hyungs," Jungkook says, appreciating the escape opportunity as he nearly launches himself off the couch to let them in.
"Kook-ah!" Hoseok announces when the younger opens the door, throwing his arms around him in an unexpected hug that startles Jungkook.
"You look nervous," Yoongi points out, never one for subtlety or letting things go.
"Why would I be nervous? You guys come here all the time," Jungkook deflects. Yoongi looks at him skeptically but says nothing further, choosing to follow Hoseok in and place the takeout they brought on the kitchen counter.
"Hi hyungs," Jimin says, popping up and acting like their conversation never happened. "What did you get? Smells so good."
"Yoongi decided to be a chef and make it all himself," Hoseok says, smiling fondly at the eldest who just shrugs like it is no big deal.
