Jungkook wakes to the smell of cooking meat, his stomach grumbling as his senses wake further. He stretches and finds the other side of the bed empty, frowning as he rubs the sleep from his eyes.

"Oh you're awake."

Jungkook blinks his eyes back to focus to see Jimin stand there, same hoodie and sweats he slept in, looking nervously at the younger.

"Should I not be?" Jungkook asks, voice raspy from sleep.

"No-wait I mean- I didn't expect you to be and I was coming to wake you up for breakfast."

Jimin's nervousness makes Jungkook feel nervous, a feeling he wishes neither of them had. But he doesn't know how to alleviate this besides talking, which he isn't awake enough to have.

"Okay baby," Jungkook says, Jimin relaxing noticeably with the pet name. He turns and leaves and Jungkook makes his way out as well, stopping in the bathroom before taking a plate from the elder filled with eggs, bacon, and sausage.

They eat in silence on the couch, neither knowing what to say. Jungkook isn't used to Jimin being this way and after having eaten breakfast and the elder doesn't say anything, he determines he has to start this.

"So," he says awkwardly, getting Jimin's attention. "We should talk."

"Yeah," Jimin sighs. Another moment of silence before Jungkook can't take this awkward tension anymore.

"Hyung, I have to be honest. It felt like you were choosing the company and the suffering of being with it over me," Jungkook admits. "And I know you're saying you're choosing me now but..."

"But..."

"But I can't just sit by and watch you suffer. Out of everything that is what hurts the most. You were choosing misery over me."

"Koo I-" Jimin starts, looking deeply apologetic at the younger. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to, I promise. It didn't cross my mind that you wouldn't be able to stay."

"Would you have still chosen to be miserable if I could stay?" Jungkook asks. The elder doesn't answer, but Jimin's silence is telling enough which makes the younger sigh tiredly.

"Hyung, why didn't you listen to me? Why did you insist you were fine when you so obviously weren't, especially to me?"

"It's hard to explain Kook-ah," Jimin says softly. "I didn't want to be weak."

"Weak how?"

"Just weak. Like I couldn't handle being there. Dance is so competitive and I just wanted to prove-"

Jimin inhales a shaky breath as his eyes welled up with tears and Jungkook immediately pulls him into a hug, stroking his hair comfortingly as the elder squeezes his arms around his waist in a tight hold.

"Baby you shouldn't put up with misery in fear of looking weak. You shouldn't have to sacrifice your happiness like that. Please don't do that," Jungkook comforts, feeling himself get choked up. "It hurts to see you hurting hyung."

"I'm sorry," Jimin whispers.

"Promise me you won't go back there," Jungkook says. "Even if you dump me tomorrow, I don't want you to be miserable. Don't do a disservice to your talent like that."

"I promise," Jimin says, squeezing the younger tighter. "I should have listened to you. I'm just scared I'm not good enough."

"Any company that doesn't see your worth doesn't deserve you."

Jimin stays silent, choosing to nuzzle closer to the younger seeking more comfort that Jungkook gives easily.

"I was so stupid," Jimin murmurs after a while.
