"You look great."
The whispered words make Jimin jump with a quiet yelp, whipping around to see Jungkook standing there with a beaming smile on his face.
"Thanks," Jimin replies with an exhale before turning back to the mirror to further check everything was as it should be. The free skate costume was the exact opposite of his short program. It was all black with some metallic details. The entire back was mesh and there were some strips of tattered mesh attached at the shoulder and upper arm to resemble wings of the black swan. His now black hair was left mostly unstyled so it would move as it pleased while he skated. He still had a touch of makeup but this time more of a smoky looks to come off as dark.
"So um what should I do?" Jungkook asks, feeling nervous not being in the stands like originally intended. He fiddled with the lanyard around his neck holding the kiss and cry badge while Jimin completed his final touches and turned towards the younger.
"Just stay with Tae. You'll still be able to watch and then join us for scores. As long as you're with him it'll be fine."
Jimin gave him a reassuring smile before walking past him to head towards the rink. Jungkook quickly followed and joined Jimin at his side, a fond look in his eyes as he watched the elder proudly strut down the hall.
"Good timing. Chen is just about finished," Taehyung says as the duo approaches him. They hear the uproar of applause that indicates the previous skater has finished his program and with that Jimin enters competition mode. He approaches the rink entrance, sliding of his skate guards and handing them to Taehyung with a nod as usual. He steps on the ice and takes off, getting comfortable with the glide under his skate, he peeks at the judges who are eagerly whispering to one another and not subtly pointing at his hair and Jimin has to bite down on his lip to stop the smirk forming.
"Our final skater from South Korea: Park Jimin!" the announcer introduces with the uproar of the audience along with her. Jimin does his standard actions; lifting his arms and smiling as he sailed around the edge of the rink. He takes the center of the rink and quickly snaps his head to the side for his starting position. He lifts his eyes slightly to the side to see Jungkook is directly in his eyes sight, smiling brightly and looking proud of the elder.
The harsh strings being to fill the arena as his music begins. He takes on the persona of the black swan immediately, channeling all his internal ire and pent-up frustrations from his entire career. This is the final time he is skating this program, the final time he is taking competitive ice, the final time he is letting his career control his happiness, so he is leaving everything on the ice tonight.
As he approaches the newly added quad, a wave of determination fuels him. He stabs the ice with his toe pick and effortlessly completed the four rotations, landing as if that jump was always a quad. He hears the uproar of the audience and he lets the smirk take over his face.
That's for the asshole coach.
Jimin continues his program as if he is telling the story of his career through the black swan. Each jump and spin is a moment of release where Jimin can finally let go everything that has made him suffer over the years.
He hits his ending pose and he honestly forgot where he was for the last five minutes. The excitement of the crowd startles him and he looks around as if to orient himself back to reality. The enthusiastic hopping of Jungkook and Taehyung is what brings Jimin out of his daze and he lets the smile grow on his face.
"Representing South Korea: Park Jimin!"
Jimin turns his attention back to the judges' panel and completes his appreciative bows before quickly skating to his two biggest supporters.
