"Jungkook, are you even listening to me?"
"Huh?"
"You're the worst," Taehyung grumbles, not meaning it in all honesty. "What captured your attention this time?"
"The usual," Jungkook mumbles, cheeks tinging pink at admitting it at the knowing look Taehyung gives him. Taehyung then turns to find the object of Jungkook's attention, that being Park Jimin.
"Are you ever going to make a move?"
"Nope," Jungkook answers, looking down at his iPad that he's been mindlessly sketching on.
"Haven't you been pining for like two years?"
"I'm not pining. I'm admiring from afar."
"Come on Kook," Taehyung sighs, having had this discussion with the other numerous times since he discovered Jungkook's crush. "I don't know why you don't just go talk to him."
"You mean like everyone else," Jungkook says, peeking up to see the swarm of students wanting Jimin's attention right at that moment.
"I don't know why I try," Taehyung sighs. "I have class soon. I'll meet you at home."
"Okay," Jungkook replies, turning his attention back to his drawing. His attention drifts back up not long though, finding Jimin laughing with a small group of people Jungkook has identified as other students in Jimin's major.
Jungkook feels his heart swell as he observes Jimin, smiling brightly and running his hand through his blonde locks. Somehow after nearly two years, the elder still makes Jungkook feel things he never expected to so quickly into his college career. But despite the resilient feelings, Jungkook knew he was nowhere near good enough to be with the Park Jimin.
Jungkook was quick to learn that Jimin was well-known and subsequently well-loved by his classmates. The dance student was a social butterfly who made friends easily and garnered admirers even easier. Someone with that amount of popularity might be perceived as having a big head and ego, but Jimin proved over and over how kind and humble he was. He was so easy to fall for, which is why Jungkook quickly tumbled into his feelings for the beautiful boy.
But Jungkook, being incredibly shy and introverted, could never muster the courage to approach the elder. And he knew that he could never be with Jimin, despite longing for it as he admired from afar.
Jungkook follows Jimin with his eyes as the blonde leaves the group, likely heading off to his next class. With a sigh he looks back at his iPad and the doodles he had, scrapping them all and just putting the device into his bag.
Usually he is never lacking in something to draw, but he can't cease the anxiety bubbling up knowing how his day is going to go. It isn't an average day of classes for him as his day ends with the orientation for his study abroad program.
"Shit," Jungkook startles when his phone buzzes suddenly, pulling him out of his anxious thoughts and wandering-to-Jimin mind. He silences the alarm that was set to remind him of the orientation so he wouldn't be late in case he got wrapped up in his art. So he gets his stuff together and departs from the anxiety-inducing meeting.
--
"Welcome everyone to our study abroad orientation!" the program director announces to the room filled with students who go silent at her words. "We're very excited to have so many students traveling all over to broaden their education."
Jungkook scans the room, sitting in the far back of the very full classroom. He didn't recognize anyone in particular, which made his shyness grow. But this is part of why he is doing study abroad in the first place: to push him outside of his comfort zone, meet some new people, and get some new experiences.
