Summary/ Taylor comforts you after you lose your job

No matter how often Taylor assures you about not worrying to get a job, you wanted to get one, anyway.

The reasoning for it is because you wanted to feel more dependent on yourself, that and you needed something to keep you occupied while Taylor was away on tour. After all the appointments you had gone through in job interviews, you had at last landed yourself a job at the nearby Costa Vida as a cashier.

Working with a register was a whole new thing for you to explore as you had never operated on one before. This was new, yet very exciting for you once you had started your training. This was a very flexible job for you, as your schedule was just the way you liked it. You didn't go in for your shift too early and you didn't get off too late. A few months had already gone by and by this time, you were a pro expert at the register and very rarely scheduled to patrol the lobby of the restaurant. Taylor had come in a few times before to join you for lunch. Every day without fail, she would always remind you of how proud she was of your success.

Time went by and you beginning to feel proud of yourself for your own success. You often found yourself thinking of how much you enjoyed working there, as you had befriended coworkers and the manager, you would almost say this was your second home since your crew felt more like family then just employees and/or friends. Everything had been running smooth during your time there, until you started hearing rumors of downsizing one person. At first, you didn't believe it as this had come up in the past before and no one was singled out to be let go, due to the number of employees the manager held. Never in your wildest dreams did you ever think that you'd be the one who they would let go.

When your manager had discussed this with you, you felt your heart shatter as you were one of the best, and hardworking employee there. It didn't seem fair that you had been picked to have lost your job, you knew some of the coworkers hardly worked at all. What made it more upsetting was the knowledge that they had chose you over the most lazy and careless employee there to let go. It just didn't make any sense at all, but you knew you had to handle this maturely and understood their reasoning for it. You walked in the restaurant as scheduled, only to be pulled aside by your manager.

"What can I do for you?" You ask.

"I need to speak to you about something important, follow me."

You followed behind as if you were a lost puppy trying to find your way back home. Your manager stopped at one of the booths, both of you taking your seats across from each other.

"I'm sure that you've been notified and are aware of us need to follow the restaurant's policy on downsizing one employee."

"Yes."

"What I'm about to tell you, I hope that you'll understand that it was cooperate's decision in choosing you to let go."

There was a moment of silence before you responded, nodding your head slowly, holding tears back as you spoke up.

"I completely understand, it's been a pleasure working with you and the company. I know this isn't easy for anyone, but I know that it has to be done in order to follow the policy."

Your manager nods in agreement as you continue on.

"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with you, it's truly been great and I quite enjoyed it."

After your statement, you stood up and walked back to your car. Once inside, you let the tears fall while giving yourself a minute to calm yourself before you get sucked into a panic attack. Taylor was surprised when you walked in your home, and when she noticed that you had been crying, she immediately rushed to you and embraced you, asking you what was wrong.

You told her everything as she held you, rocking you back and forth as you spoke about losing your job.

"I know this is a blow to you, Y/n, but just think of it this way; this is just telling you that there is something better out there  waiting for you to seize it. Why don't you just take a couple of weeks before you start looking for work? Just take the time to wind down, and with me, too."

"I'll do that. That sounds wonderful."

"Good."

Taylor was your world and you felt the luckiest girl to call her yours. You loved everything about her, even on some parts where she feels like she has to worry about your well-being.
