The only way to best describe your fear of the dark was truly no better then Taylor's very first poem titled, "A Monster In My Closet!"
There were nights where your mind had you convinced that both you and Taylor weren't alone in the bedroom at night. It almost drove you to paranoia as you would cowardly slip your head under the covers not long after the lights go out.
The way your mind played it was almost ridiculous; it would be telling you that there was some sort of monster somewhere in the room, waiting for you to fall asleep in order to come out of hiding. It was like you know there is a monster in there with you, you couldn't pinpoint where it was or when it was gonna come out, but you know it's going to come out sooner or later. What you would usually do was to put on a show that you a comfortable feeling that would help you to fall asleep. Of course, it made you feel guilty at times as you worried it was keeping Taylor up. But unlike you, she seemed to be a very heavy sleeper tonight. A lot of the time, you'd be arguing with yourself about the reasons you were awake.
You often felt your tired body desperately trying to remind you how late it was and was begging for you to close your eyes... but you just couldn't.
Some nights were harder then others. It was sometimes ridiculously impossible for you to conquer. You don't recall on remembering of when you eventually fell asleep, but the next thing you know, you're hearing the bathroom door close, startling you awake as you feel the mattress dip, indicating Taylor had returned. The tv was still on with your show running as you feel a slight touch, your eyes barely open as you realize Taylor was taking the remote gently from you, careful not to wake you up. Just before she could shut the tv off, you stop her, asking her to keep it on unless it was really bothering her as you feared, she then begins to ask you if you were okay. You don't fully admit the real reason, but what you told her was partly true.
"Are you okay, baby?"
"I'm just feeling a little anxious tonight."
"I'm sorry, sweetheart. Is there anything I can do for you?"
"Can you hold me?"
"Of course, come here."
You did as she asked and then you were immediately wrapped in her protective embrace, feeling safe from anything to what you thought could hurt you or come out at you through the night.
The moment was soon followed by of her humming to the tune of "Enchanted" which happened to be your favorite song she had wrote by far. You were exhausted from fighting the sleep you needed, and Taylor took notice in you still trying to keep awake, making her grow even more concerned then she already was. She begins to coax you with a soothing tone of voice, her voice was the voice of an angel, whether she was using it to sing or for something else.
"Go to sleep, baby. Everything is going to be okay. I'll still be here when you wake up, I promise."
The last thing you remember before allowing yourself falling asleep was the gentle feel of Taylor's hand rubbing soothing circles on your back.
You wake the following morning and just she promised, Taylor was still there, holding you hand in her. This just shows you really could count on Taylor for just about anything and everything. Taylor was an amazing girlfriend and you truly couldn't for any better. You wouldn't trade her for the world, she was your fairytale dream come true.
She was all yours, but you were both all of each other's.
