Pairing: Taylor x female!reader
Warnings: None
Requested: No***
The first minute you know, you were fast asleep next to Taylor, and the next, you found yourself seeking shelter in the bathroom at the far end of the hallway.
You were currently living in the apartment in New York, so the bathroom was the best option for shelter.
What happened was Taylor was awakened by the alarm going off on her phone about a tornado warning and after seeing you still asleep, she shook you awake in a hurry. You were a heavy sleeper, even with the volume all the way up on your phone for that alarm didn't wake you. It was impressive really, but it also worried Taylor as you also have slept through a fire alarm in the apartment. An alarm that could be heard outside five miles away, it was seriously that loud. As Taylor was pulling you behind her after making a mad dash, you didn't understand why until she showed you the phones.
"What's going on?"
"We have a tornado coming our way, so we're staying in here until further notice."
You could hear the rain beating against the building and windows, you knew it was hailing out there, and it really sounded like the windows were about to break.
Just after being wrapped in Taylor's embrace, the power went out. You'd be lying if you said you weren't freaked out at all, you've never before have gone through anything like this, never been around when a tornado is being dangerously formed a few miles away. The wind was howling strongly and when you both felt the building move, you knew it was getting closer to the area. That only made you hold onto each other tighter, afraid one of you would be blown away if you didn't. This lasted for what felt like a lifetime, and because you were both exhausted from fear, you both ended up falling asleep in that exact position.
When you both wake up the following morning, all was seemingly calm and quiet. Neither of you wanted to go out and check, knowing you'd come face with a devastating result of a destroyed neighborhood, city. As always, the curiosity couldn't be resisted and you both walked hand in hand together, bracing yourselves for what was to come as a unpleasant greeting. Taylor stops abruptly once you got to the big double doors exit point, asking if you were ready to see what you knew you were gonna see.
"Yes and no."
"Me too. But we have to face it sometime and that sometime is better now then later."
With that, Taylor pulls open the doors and just expected, you were both shocked of the sighting.
The mess was devastating and would take who knows how long to clean up and replace what was lost in the storm. Street lights were pulled out of place, destroyed homes and businesses, flipped over cars and so on. You both decide to head back inside after realizing no one else had come out of shelter other than you.
It was scary, but you know that everything was going to be okay, despite the devastation of the results.
You and Taylor were going to do everything you can to help your community.
