The relationship you shared with Taylor gave you nothing but good memories.

It was probably the best relationship you had ever been in, if you were going into dating terms. The breakup hurt and left a big, gaping hole in your heart, it hurt you enough to make you believe the hole might as well be just right through your chest, piercing your heart in the making.

Taylor was just different from those you've dated in the past before her, no one else could be like her and you were confident in yourself that you'd never find anyone else after this. Taylor was your world, and without her in your life, your world was empty. In the beginning of the breakup, you were so hurt by it that you wouldn't care if you fell off the face of the earth; with no one knowing where you could possibly be. But as weeks went by, you slowly started feeling better and things slowly got back to normal. Or so it seemed, because of the good memories you had, you thought that's what Taylor would have carried as well, but you were proven wrong once she released her newest song to the world. Because you wanted to keep things on a good note between you, you supported her music and once you saw the her releasing a new song, you put it on and started listening.

When the lyrics rung in your ears, it became clear to you that this was about your breakup, and immediately shut it off before it could even reach halfway through; you didn't want to listen anymore. You felt your heart drop as you thought of the lyrics, the lyrics had cut in deep and it nearly made you feel depressed about it all over again. Of course it was something you should've expected for her to do, but it still stung, the hurt was almost like a betrayal you didn't want to feel. It was in that moment you realized you had an important, yet difficult decision to make, which was if you should continue to listen to her music or if you should put it away.

It took you about a week before deciding the best thing for you to do would be to put the music away for a while and listen to something else you like. You remember that back when you were still dating, Taylor would often tell you about her exes trying to reach out of her about a song they'd think was about them and how she wouldn't reply. As you thought of that, you also decided you weren't going to try and reach out like them, you just weren't that kind of person. If you did that, it would only cause drama and karma in your life, and that was something you didn't need to deal with. You were going to let it go and move forward, love the best life possible.

You were going to find your own happiness, no matter what the cost and no matter the timing it would take. Your long term goal was a happy future, weather if it was in the company of our companion, or even if it was just in your own company.

Happiness can be hard to find, yes... but happiness was a nice thing to have.
