Taylor was aware of the fact of the rough time you have been going through, but never did she believe it would lead up to this, an old habit that you promised you have quit long ago. While you were out at your part time job, Taylor was going through and getting laundry done when she found the empty carton pack of cigarettes in one of your pant pockets. It was a shock to her, she hadn't seen this since the day you had given up smoking, and with the health issues it gave you the last time, her worry for you only grew and she knew she had to speak to you about this once your home.
Your shift at the coffee shop was about over, and so Taylor waited for you on the soft sofa of your highly decorative living room with her arms folded and the empty carton thrown onto the coffee table in front of her. She wasn't furious, upset, she was more disappointed and worried, giving her the determination to find out what was going on that you weren't telling her about. When you told Taylor that the first time you experienced smoking was at the age of twelve during a beach party, she was shocked. However, you reassured Taylor that you had stopped on your own and hadn't touch one since. Taylor believed you, because at the time, this was all true. Lucky for Taylor, she didn't have to wait that long to talk to you, as you had come home at the predicted time.
Walking in, you see her sitting there and you greet her with your usual smile before it dropped once you picked up on a eerie vibe that something was wrong. Before asking, you walk in for more closure between you.
"Something wrong?"
"You tell me."
Taylor gestures to the empty carton box on the table, giving you a gasp.
"Would you know something about this?"
"Yes... that's mine."
"What's it doing here?"
"Well, um... I started smoking again because of stress these days."
"Why didn't you say anything? You can talk to me you know? You don't have to risk your health of handling your stress this way. You can always talk to me."
"I know..."
"What's going on?"
That's when you broke down and told Taylor everything. You were going through tough times, some she doesn't even know about and she was a little upset that you had said nothing in the first place.
Your excuse was all that you were doing was protecting her from the suffering. You thought it would just be cruel to tell her and have her go through it with you and that's what made it hard for you to say anything at all. Taylor had her arm wrapped around you as you told her this, and everything else. All she could do right now was to pull in closer and just listen, maybe throw in thoughts and opinions once you've finished.
"I'm sorry I haven't told you right away-"
"Don't apologize, (Y/n). You have nothing to apologize for, you understand? I was just worried about you and wanted to know what was going on. Are you okay?"
"I am now that I'm with you."
Taylor pulls you in for another long hug, she pulls away along with her next opinion.
"I'm just glad you're okay. You don't have to suffer through this alone, I'll be by your side. Always."
Hearing that you wrap Taylor in an embrace and hold onto her tightly, before having to break apart.
"If I ever find another one of these, (Y/n), I'm going to check you in for help."
"Rodger that."
"I love you, (Y/n). So much."
"I love you more, Taylor. I love you just the same."
This is exactly what true love was.
