Cy's P.O.V

"I'm so sorry Cy, this is all my fault." I sigh.

"No, it's mine. I should have been more careful instead of being so careless."

"What now, what do we do?"

"Go home Mia, I'll take care of this." I can see the hesitation in her eyes but she nods anyways, leaving. I may be keeping a cool head around everyone but in all honesty I am livid. She's been gone for a week and there's no trace of her anywhere, how can she be so good at hiding? I'm doing everything I can to find her but I haven't gotten anything yet.

"Hey." She walks in.

"Hi."

"How are you doing?" She asks me this question every day.

"I'm fine, just like I was yesterday and the day before that Kimberly." I say a little annoyed.

"I know I'm annoying you but I just want to make sure you're okay since Au-"

"Leave." I breathe out and she sighs, getting up and taking her purse.

"I'll be back tomorrow." She says sympathetically then leaves, I don't want to take out my frustrations of her leaving on the people around me, but I can't help it. It's frustrating because I feel so powerless knowing that I'm doing my best to find her but I'm not winning.

"Where are you Aurora?" I whisper in despair.

Aurora's P.O.V

"Marcel, pleased to meet you." He offers me his hand and I shake it then he does the same with Amelie.

"Marcel, right on time. I'm Amelie the head waitress I guess and this is Aurora, she also just got hired and will be working with you." He looks at me and smiles but I just turn around and follow Amelie to the kitchen. She gives us the tour of the café, showing us how to use the espresso machine, how to make lattes, bake croissants and anything else we might need to know if ever she or the cook aren't around. "Okay well we're about to open and I think I've taught you guys everything you need to know, you're gonna do great." She smiles at me and leaves. I don't know if it's because of my overwhelming nerves but I feel like I'm going to throw up.

"I guess you're the favourite." I look at him confused.

"Huh?" And he points at Amelie.

"She clearly likes you more than me."

"This isn't a competition, I'm sure if you do your job better than me then you'll instantly be the 'favourite'." He smirks and I roll my eyes.

"I guess my work here is done."

"Excuse me?"

"Well a minute ago you looked like you were going to puke but I guess I managed to distract you." Ugh, he's so cocky! But I have to admit, I do feel a little calmer now. Scoffing I walk away.

"As if." Putting on my apron, the doorbell chimes and our first customer walks in, I guide him to a table, take his order, make it then serve it to him. And as the rest of the day goes on this is basically what Marcel and I do till we take a break for lunch. Making toasted cheese and tomato with iced coffee, I sit by the book shelf and start eating.

"Isn't this ironic." Marcel says sitting in front of me. Ugh!

"Do you mind?"

"Oh no, of course not. Go ahead." I furrow my eyebrows in confusion and eat anyways. "Who knew that us bumping into each other that day would lead to this? I mean call me crazy but this feels a lot like fate." I almost choke on my sandwich.

"No, what this feels like is annoyance, now could you please leave." He looks at me and scoffs.

"You even act like a runner."

"Excuse me?"

"The whole 'bitchy attitude, don't want to get close to anyone' gives it away, that you're running from something and that this is your hideout."

"You don't know what you're talking about." I say through gritted teeth.

"Actually I do, I used to run too till I settled somewhere else and found out that that was exactly what I needed. Look, I don't know what you're going through and I know it's none of my business, but just know that there's someone here who knows how you feel." He pats my hand then gets up and leaves. Running my hand through my hair I push my food aside, I guess I lost my appetite. After lunch we get back to work and he doesn't say another word and neither do I, I actually try my hardest to avoid him.

"Okay well, that was our last customer, good job today guys. You did great."

"I'll take care of the dishes." I say heading to the kitchen.

"I'll help." Marcel offers.

"Thanks." We wash the dishes together in silence while Amelie cleans the tables and after the place is spotless we start packing up.

"I had a fun first day, see you guys tomorrow." I say waving and walking home. Getting home, even though I'm tired, I head straight into the shower then order dinner and eventually fall asleep on the couch, with the tv on. Jolting awake I try to catch my breath, pushing my hair back. I grab my phone to see what time it is, it's 3am, I still have four hours before my alarm clock wakes me up. After thinking about the nightmare I just had I try to go back to sleep again and eventually do. "Mm!" I groan hearing my alarm, I basically drag myself to the bathroom to take a shower and after getting ready I eat breakfast then head out.

"Good morning." I meet Marcel at the door and he smiles at me.

"Morning. Morning Amelie." I greet her as well and she smiles at me.

"Morning guys." I head to the back, grab my stuff then turn the 'closed' sign to 'open'. "Oh Aurora, Marcel, the cook called in sick so I'll be in the kitchen today, do you guys think you can manage out front without me?"

"Of course." We say in union.

"Great, thanks guys." Customers begin to arrive and it's as busy as ever, even more chaotic without Amelie but Marcel and I manage just fine, by lunch time I'm already exhausted as if it were the end of the day. "Here, made you guys Mac and cheese with bacon." Jumping out of surprise, I smile and take the plate. "Oh sorry."

"No it's okay and thank you, it looks great." Turning I catch Marcel's eye but quickly look away.

"May I join you?" I look up and nod, he takes a seat putting his plate on the table and putting a glass of iced coffee in front of me. "This is for you."

"Oh, thank you." I take a sip, oh wow. "Mm, it's nice." He chuckles.

"Thanks. Are you alright?" We look at each other then I furrow my eyebrows.

"Yes, why."

"Well, I don't know, it's just that you seem a bit jumpy."

"Amelie just surprised me that's all." He nods and chooses to drop it, we eat our lunch in comforting silence then get back to work. He cracks a few jokes here and there and I actually laugh, I guess he's doing that thing again, to try and lighten the mood and again, it working. After cleaning up we head out and Amelie locks up.

"Bye guys." She waves at Marcel and I.

"Bye." I wave back.

"Are you going to be okay walking back by yourself?" I look down the street then back at him.

"Yeah, I'll be alright." He nods.

"Okay well goodnight Aurora."

"Goodnight Marcel." He leaves but I call out to him. "Marcel." He turns to me. "Thank you for today." He smiles.

"My pleasure." And I smile back then walk home.
