Tilly's P.O.V
Watching Aurora run off to Cyan I release a deep sigh, I really don't want to be here till the end or get caught up in the middle of it, is it too late to leave? Heading back to the house I pour myself a drink and Cy walks in.
"Where's Aurora?" The four of us are staying in the same house so I might as well tell him.
"I think you know where she is." He sighs.
"Pour one for me as well." Fucken hell, haha I hate it here.
"Here you go." He gobbles it up at one go. 'Yeah, I would too' I think to myself while pouring him a second drink.
"Thanks." I haven't known Cy that long but I can honestly say that right now, in this very moment, that he feels miserable. "I'm sorry for roping you into this." He says running a hand through his hair.
"This was all your doing?" He nods. "Why would you even put them in the same room if you knew how they both feel about each other?" Is he crazy? I'd keep Aurora as far away from Cyan as possible.
"That trick would've eventually run its course. We're family, you and Cyan are my children's aunt and uncle so how long do you think I could have kept them apart if I tried?" I hadn't thought that far, has he?
"Fine, that's understandable but what good does this do?"
"She couldn't bring herself to admit that she might be harbouring feelings for him, even when I wasn't in the picture."
"So is that what you wanted? For her to tell him that she loves him?"
"I wanted her to be honest with herself, with me and with Cyan. For once. I wanted her to choose who she really wants, not because of obligation or what used to be, but because that's what she truly desires. I don't want to box her in and make her choose me, building anew, only for our relationship to fall apart ten to fifteen years from now when our kids are older." I feel bad for Cy, I'm sure he already knows who he wants to be with but that person doesn't. But then again you can't choose someone out of obligation, that'd be cruel.
"Did it ever occur to you that she might pick Cyan? And if she does then what? What will that mean for the kids? For us? For you and Aurora?" I just can't seem to wrap my mind around it.
"If she does choose Cyan then I'll let her go. The kids are still young so we have plenty of time to come up with a reasonable explanation for when they're older and as for us, we'll figure it out eventually." I shake my head.
"I can't imagine Cyan ever giving her up to you."
"He will if it's what she wants." I don't think even then. Cyan has always lived his life being second best to Cy and even though he knew that the way our father treated us wasn't Cy's fault, he still couldn't help but hate him. When he died it was the first time I saw him feel a sense of regret, he regretted hating him and not being a brother to him for so long. He wanted to make things right. Well Cy's back now, so what's he doing? "I'm gonna go sleep, don't overdo it."
"Night." Grabbing my glass and the bottle, I head to bed too.
Cy's P.O.V
Hearing my phone ring I groan before waking up.
"Mikey, what is it?"
"Boss we have a problem, someone leaked a recent photo of you to the media and they're already planning on publishing articles as we speak!"
"How long can we hold off all publications?"
"Thirty six hours at best."
"Okay, do that. Make sure that nothing is published and contact Mr Jefferson, the paperwork should already be on its way to him, I'll head back as soon as possible."
"Okay boss." Getting up, I quickly put on a suit while asking my PA to book me a flight back to New York. Aurora and I haven't even filed the documents to return everything to me yet and now this happens.
"Fuck." I say under my breath. When the driver pulls up I go to the twins room and kiss them goodbye then head out after leaving a note by their bed.
"Sir, we'll be taking off in five minutes." The pilot informs me.
"Okay." I didn't say goodbye to Aurora, but seeing her come out of Cyan's room is not an image I wanted in my head. Maybe I should take a quick nap before we get there. When we land I find Benson already waiting for me.
"Good afternoon sir."
"Hello Benson. Has Mr Jefferson arrived?"
"Yes sir, he's waiting for you at the house." Hah, this is giving me a headache already.
"Mr Jefferson."
"Cy, it's really good to see you son." He says hugging me and giving me a pat on the back.
"Me too, I just wish it was under better circumstances." Heading into my office, I grab the police report and hand it to him.
"I got the paperwork before heading here as well so I'll file them immediately, how long do we have?"
"Three days."
"If we work diligently, you'll be able to release a statement in 24hours and I'll let you know how it goes. Do your best to stay out of sight before then."
"Thank you Mr Jefferson." I see him out then call my PA to schedule a press conference. Loosening my tie I slump down on the couch and look up at the ceiling. Because everyone is away the house is really quiet right now, it feels empty too. It's funny how before coming back from London I used to live like this, in big empty houses, then when I'd travel jumping from country to country I'd stay in hotels and I never once thought much of it. But now that my life has been filled to the brim and overflown by Aurora's presence, and now the twins, I just can't seem to feel comfortable in this empty and quiet space.
Ding Dong!
Getting up, I head to the door while unbuttoning the top buttons of my shirt, who could it be at this time? I ask myself opening the door. I watch her carefully as she takes in deep breaths, to calm herself, as if she ran here.
"Lony."
"I hope I didn't come at a bad time."
