Cy's P.O.V
Looking over Aurora as she sleeps I can't help but worry, I love this woman but I'm fucking things up at every turn, and I'm actually starting to ask myself if I make her happy. I feel my phone vibrate and step outside.
"Yeah?" I head to my office. "No, tell them they have 24h to make a decision or we're buying all their stock and they'll be left with nothing."
"Hey, I'm heading out." She says coming into my office. I get up and kiss her forehead before she leaves. I also head to the office after a while to attend a couple of meetings.
"This isn't a negotiation, you either do business with me or you become bankrupt." I hate when people who don't really have a choice but to cave, don't. "Look, Mr Knite, there is no one you can turn to that will do business with you. You dug yourself a grave when you got your hands dirty and now I'm the last hope you have."
"You want 70% of my business! That is unacceptable." He huffs, I'm getting a migraine.
"You're lucky I'm not taking full ownership!" I take a breath. "You have no money and no resources, no one will do business with you unless I say so, so sign the contract or in a week I'll buy your whole company and sell it off piece by piece." I say getting up and fixing my suit. "We're done here." I head out.
"Mr Kensington you have a visitor waiting in your office." My assistant says.
"Who."
"She said she was your girlfriend sir." Aurora's here? Is something wrong?
"It's fine Layla, I don't want to be disturbed."
"Yes sir." Getting into my office my smirk immediately falls.
"What are you doing here?" She turns to me, smiling.
"Is that how you're going to treat me when we're husband and wife?" I take a seat.
"That will never happen." She takes a seat as well.
"I wanted us to talk, about yesterday." I gesture for her to continue. "Was it really necessary for you to tell Aurora about our engagement?"
"Would you have preferred I keep it a secret from her?"
"Do you not see that you hurt her feelings by doing so? I'm sure when you did, her mind immediately went back to that night I saw you both at the restaurant and I'm sure she felt like a fool. You were supposed to tell her from the beginning."
"You're telling me things I already know Mia."
"Not that tone and not with me." She furrows her eyebrows, she must be upset. "I know I don't stand a chance with you but that doesn't mean I don't want to see you happy, you're one of my oldest friends Cy."
"I'm sorry this is all a mess, for all of us." I sigh.
"Hey, family right. Can't pick em and can't get rid of them." She smiles shrugging. "Well anyways I have to go, I have a plane to catch and just dropped by to say hello really."
"Mia." She stops by the door, not turning to me. "You do know that if this deal doesn't go through he'll never let you be the CEO right."
"He wouldn't have let me even if it did, he would have probably offered the position to you but I trust you and don't worry, I'll handle it." I see that glint in her eyes, she's up to something.
"I won't let anything happen to you Mia."
"I know." She says closing the door, leaving. When we were younger the one thing Mia always wanted, aside from marrying me, was to get her father's approval and to be CEO but that sexist prick will never let her. After work I stop by a flower shop on my way home and buy Aurora a large bouquet of red roses.
"Good afternoon sir."
"Benson. Is she home yet?"
"Yes sir, she's in the library." Walking in I find her enveloped in the book she's reading, totally unaware that I'm behind her.
"You know.."
"Jesus." She jumps in fright and laughs nervously. "You scared me."
"You need to be more aware of your surroundings." I smile. "These are for you." She beams.
"They're beautiful, thank you." Taking a seat I pull her onto my lap. "How was work?" She asks shyly.
"Boring, I missed you." I give her cheek a kiss.
"Cy." She warns.
"Have dinner with me tomorrow night, we won't go out, we'll stay in. I'll cook Italian and it will be just you and I." She sighs. "And I'll make dessert."
"You don't have a patient bone in your body do you?"
"Not when it comes to you. When it comes to you I'll leap, every time."
"I can tell." She giggles. "Fine but, I get to choose the dessert."
"Deal." After a while we head downstairs and eat dinner together, something we haven't done in a while. Waking up the next morning I take a shower and get ready for work, before leaving I kiss Aurora goodbye. "Mary."
"Yes sir."
"I'll be preparing dinner for Aurora tonight so you and Benson can leave early. Also, I'm making Italian cuisine so could you make sure I'll have everything I'll need."
"Of course sir and thank you." She smiles. Getting to the office I call one of the event planners I've worked with to set up something nice for Aurora tonight.
"It's a dinner for two so anything that she might like is okay."
"And what does she like?"
"She likes simple yet elegant things so I don't know. I need this done by tonight, Mary will show you were to set everything up." I also inform Mary about the event planners arrival.
"Sir, your 1 o'clock is here."
"I'll be right there Layla."
Aurora's P.O.V
Today was hectic, walking into the house I find Cy already in the kitchen, wearing a 'kiss the chef' apron and I can't help but laugh.
"I'm home. Where are Mary and Benson?" I ask, smiling at him and he gives me a soft peck on the lips, hugging me tightly.
"Hey, I gave them the night off. How was work?" I roll my eyes.
"The worst, I had back to back meetings and there was a problem with the printers. Ugh! You?"
"Nothing worth complaining about or talking about really."
"Okay well let me go change and I'll come help."
"No, you go change into something nice and I'll pour you a glass of scotch." I smile at him.
"I'd like that." I head upstairs and take a quick shower then change into my white floral dress with a slit on the side and leave my hair as is, not wearing any shoes. Cute and simple. Walking down the stairs I blush when I see rose petals on the floor accompanied by fairy lights leading to the patio.
"All done, enjoy." A woman smiles to me before leaving.
"Ah- who are-" And she leaves, just like that. Who was that?
"Dinners ready." He says from behind me and I ease into him. "Come on." He takes my hand and leads me to the patio.
"Oh wow." Aside from the dozen rose petals and fairy lights there is also a harpist playing a beautiful melody. It all looks so beautiful yet simple. "This reminds me of that date we had on the beach in Bora Bora." I remember, sitting down.
"Do you like it?"
"I love it." I smile.
