Before Kelly drove to work with the others the next morning, he went to Caleb's room to check on him. "Good morning." Kelly said, sitting on the bed. Caleb turned to him. "Oh sh*t I'll be late." Caleb yelled, jumping up. "Hey, calm down. 1. It's Saturday and I don't think anyone is at school on Saturdays and 2. Remember you're on sick leave for the rest of the school year." Kelly said. "That's right. Sorry Dad." Caleb said and flopped back down on the bed. "Hey, it's okay. How are you?" Kelly asked. "Better." Caleb said, rubbing his eyes. "That's good to hear. Listen, we have to go. Cindy is here taking care of the little ones. You just lie down and relax a little. If something happens, Cindy will know or you can call anytime." Kelly explained. "Okay." Caleb said. 'Alright, I have to go now. I love you." Kelly said, kissing his cheek. "I love you too and take care of yourselves." Caleb smiled. "We will, okay, see you tomorrow." Kelly said and left the room. "See you tomorrow." Caleb said quietly, looking a little sadly at the door. He got up, went to the window and peered through the blinds. Outside, Stella, Sylvie, Matt and Kelly just got in the car and drove off. Caleb got back in bed, snuggled into his duvet and closed his eyes. Hearing laughter from downstairs 10 minutes later, he sat up. "Please don't come in, please don't come in." Caleb whispered as he heard someone running upstairs. The door was thrown open and Benjamin stormed into the room. "Caleb, are you awake?" he asked. "Now I am. What do you want?" Caleb asked. At that moment, Cindy came into the room with Lydia in her arms. "Ben, you're supposed to leave Caleb alone today." Cindy said. "It's alright. I'm awake anyway." Caleb said, standing up. Lydia held out her arms and Caleb took her from Cindy. "Did you sleep well?" Caleb asked his little sister, kissing her cheek. Lydia smiled at him and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Has she eaten anything?" Caleb asked. "I just got her a bottle ready." Cindy said. "Okay, I'll take a quick shower and then come down too." Caleb said. Cindy took Lydia back and left the room. When Caleb came into the kitchen a few minutes later, everyone was seated at the kitchen table and already having breakfast. "What's on the agenda for today?" Cindy asked. "Ben and Matty are staying at a friend's house for the day." Caleb said, putting two slices of toast in the toaster. "And what are your plans for today?" Cindy asked the girls. Layla and Kayla shrugged their shoulders. "I know exactly what you two are going to do this morning and that's you two going out with Spiky and Filou." Caleb said. "No!" Layla said, crossing her arms. "Why not? You guys really wanted a dog then and now you don't bother with him." Caleb said and sat down at the table. The girls didn't answer. 'What do you think if I come with you? We could go to the park." Cindy suggested. At that moment the phone rang. "Hello? ...hey...ok...yeah I'll check and bring it over to you...ok fine, see you later." Caleb said and hung up. "Who was that?" Cindy asked. "Uncle Matt. He forgot his wallet." Caleb said, sitting back down at the table. "So, what do you think of that?" Cindy asked again. "No, we don't want to." the girls said. "I have to go out now anyway, so I'll take the dogs, but it's the very last time, understand?" Caleb asked. Both girls nodded. After breakfast, Benjamin and Matty got ready and Caleb accompanied them to their friend's house, who lives just a few blocks away. When Caleb passed the firehouse, the vehicle depot was empty. "Come on you two. Maybe we'll have better luck later." Caleb said, looking a little concerned at the empty vehicle hall. In the park, Caleb took the leash off the two puppies and let them run around a bit. He sat on a park bench, played on his phone and kept an eye on Spiky and Filou. A few minutes later a man sat down at the other end of the bench. Caleb gave him a quick look, smiled, then continued playing on his phone. "Are you all alone here?" the man asked. "Yes." Caleb said, visibly uncomfortable. "Aren't your parents here?" the man asked. "No, they're at work." Caleb said. "Okay, good." the man said quietly. As Caleb began to feel more and more uncomfortable, he got up and put the puppies back on their leashes. "Hey, where are you going?" the man asked, blocking his way. "I have to go home." Caleb said, trying to get past the man. 'But why? We get along so well right now." the man said and grabbed Caleb's arm. "Hey, what's that about? Let go of me." Caleb yelled, trying to pull away. Spiky and Filou barked nervously. A few visitors noticed the screams and rushed to Caleb's aid. "Hey, let go of the boy." a woman shouted. The man pushed Caleb aside and ran away. A few other visitors tried to run after the man, but he jumped on a bus and drove off. "Hey, are you okay? Did he hurt you?" the woman asked, helping Caleb up. "No, I'm fine." Caleb said. "Shall we call someone for you? Maybe your parents?" the woman asked. "No thank you. My dad works at firehouse 51, which is close by. I'll just go to him." Caleb said and left the park. The woman looked at him worriedly. When Caleb passed the firehouse, it was still empty. Caleb continued walking to the police station, which was only two blocks away. He entered the station and went straight to the reception desk, where Trudy was filing a few reports. "Hey Trudy." Caleb said. 'Oh my god Caleb, how do you look? What happened?" Trudy asked, horrified when she saw Caleb. Caleb was shaking all over and tears were streaming down his cheeks. Trudy sat down on the bench in the entryway with Caleb. At that moment, Jay and Adam came downstairs. "Hey Caleb. What happened?" Adam asked. "I-In the park a m-man..." Caleb stuttered. «Okay, calm down. Now calm down." Adam said and put his arm around Caleb's shoulders. Jay and Trudy were talking a few yards away. 'We'll take him upstairs. Try to reach Kelly and maybe a doctor too." Jay said. "Yes, I'll do it. I'll let you know." Trudy said and went back to the desk. Jay motioned to Adam. «Come on, we'll take you upstairs and there you can tell us what exactly happened." Adam said. "Can you guys call Dad?" Caleb asked. 'Yes, Trudy work on that. She's trying to reach him right now." Jay said. Adam walked into the break room with Caleb while Jay explained to the others what happened. 'Okay, we're going to the park, maybe we'll find witnesses. Ruzek and you stay here. Have you guys let his dad know yet?" Voight asked. "Trudy is trying to reach him right now, and she's calling the med to see if someone can come by." Jay said. Voight nodded and went to Millennium Park with the others. A few minutes later Trudy came upstairs with Will, Dr. Charles and Kelly. "Dad." Caleb called, running into Kelly's arms. "Hey, what happened?" Kelly asked worried. "I was at the park with the dogs and then a man sat next to me and asked me these weird questions and when I was about to leave, he blocked my way." Caleb said, tears streaming down his face. "What?! Did he hurt you?" Kelly asked. "He just held my arm." Caleb said. "Would you like me to take a look at your arm?" Will asked. Caleb nodded and took off his jacket. "How are you otherwise?" Dr. Charles asked. "I want to go home." Caleb said. "I'll drive you home later if you want and I could take the rest of the day off, too." Kelly said. 'Going home Yes, but you don't have to take extra time off. I'll be fine." Caleb said. 'The man did a good job, didn't he?' Will asked. Caleb nodded and put his jacket back on. "Is there anything we need to be aware of?" Kelly asked. "No, when you're home I suggest you put an ice pack on your arm." Will said. «Yes, from my side too. I have to say you handled it pretty well." Dr. Charles said. "I was just scared." Caleb said. Kelly hugged his son and kissed his head. "Can I go home now?" Caleb asked. "Sure, we're done here." Jay said. Kelly drove Caleb home. "Are you sure you don't want me to stay?" Kelly asked. "No, it's alright. I'll be fine." Caleb said, getting out and opening the back door to let the two dogs out. "Thanks for being there." Caleb said. "Sure, of course. You know I'll be there whenever you need me." Kelly smiled. 'Oh yes, you can give that to Uncle Matt. I was going to give it to him in person but you guys weren't there and I forgot on the way back." Caleb said. "Of course, give it here." Kelly said, putting the wallet in the glove compartment. Caleb closed the car door and went inside. Kelly waited for Caleb to disappear into the house and then drove back to the station.
