Day of arrival

When Caleb got home, he was immediately overrun by Benjamin and Matty. "Well, you two." Caleb said, kissing both of them on the head. "They're coming today." Matty said, jumping up and down. "Yes, I know." Caleb said, taking off his shoes and jacket and putting his school bag on its shelf. "Hey, big one. How was your day?" Stella asked. "All right." Caleb said. "Nice. Everything else, okay?" Stella asked. "I'm getting nervous." Caleb said, walking into the living room. "Kiki." Lydia said. Caleb picked her up and sat in one of the armchairs. "When are we leaving?" Caleb asked. "Soon. Do you want to change quickly?" Kelly asked. "Yes." Caleb said, standing up. "Are you coming or are you staying?" Caleb asked his little sister. "Dadda." Lydia said. "Come here then." Kelly said, taking Lydia. "You can throw your clothes in the washing machine." Stella said. Caleb went upstairs and changed. Caleb took his laundry down to the basement and stuffed them in the washing machine. "Should I run the machine along?" Caleb asked. "Yes, please." Sylvie called down. Caleb poured the detergent into the machine and let it run. When he came back upstairs, the little ones were already dressed and were waiting impatiently for their big brother. "Hurry up Caleb. We'll be late otherwise." Kayla said. "No panic. The planes won't land for another hour and a half. It'll take us about 30 minutes by car, so we still have plenty of time." Caleb said and got dressed. "Smartass." Andrew murmured. "Even with these road conditions?" Julian asked. "I'm already done. Go on then." Caleb said. The kids ran to the car and everyone took their places. Caleb and Andrew strapped the babies into their infant carriers.

Arriving at the airport, Matt let everyone out and then drove into the parking garage with Kelly. Caleb studied the scoreboards. "Where are they coming from?" Caleb asked. "From Japan and Malaysia." Layla said. Caleb rolled his eyes. "Aiko from London and Elyas from Munich." Sylvie said. "All right then. Elyas lands at 6:55pm and Aiko in 40 minutes." Caleb said. "Huh. I thought they were from Japan and Malaysia." Kayla said. "Yes, they are. But no plane flies directly to the USA from Malaysia and Japan because the flight time is too long." Andrew explained. "Do you remember when I came back from Japan?" Caleb asked. "Yes, we had to wait for you for 2 hours." Layla said. "You've been to Japan?" Julian asked. "Yes, when I was still playing soccer. I've also been to Malaysia and can even speak a bit of Japanese and Malaysian." Caleb said. "Can we go?" Hayden asked impatiently. "We're still waiting for Daddy and Uncle Kelly and then we can go." Sylvie said and picked him up. "Alright guys. Figured out where to go yet?" Matt asked. "Yes. Terminal 5." Caleb said. "All right then. Come on." Kelly said. "Yay." the little ones said and ran. "Guys, stay here. We don't want to have to look for you." Stella said. Arriving at Terminal 5, the little ones waited impatiently at the barrier while the adults, Andrew, Caleb and Julian sat down on a row of benches. "Daddy, when are they coming?" Benjamin asked, climbing onto Kelly's lap. "Ask your brother. He was looking at the scoreboard." Kelly said. "Kayab, when are they coming?" Benjamin asked. Caleb sat on the bench playing on his phone. "Caleb." Stella said, nudging him. "What?" Caleb asked. "Your brother asked you something." Kelly said. "Sorry. What do you want to know?" Caleb asked. "When are they coming?" Benjamin asked again. "Aiko lands in 15 minutes and Elyas in 45 minutes." Caleb said, still playing on his phone. Kelly lowered his son and Benjamin climbed onto Caleb's lap. "What are you playing?" Benjamin asked. "Home Scape." Caleb said. "What are you doing there?" Benjamin asked. "It's similar to memory. You have to find 3 of a kind and when you find all of them you get stars that you can use to buy furniture." Caleb explained. "May I have a go?" Benjamin asked. "According to me. Here." Caleb said, handing him the phone. Benjamin played for a while until he got tired. "A five-year-old's attention is the same as a puppy." Andrew said. Spiky, Filou and Mocha barked insultingly. "You weren't meant either." Julian laughed, sat down on the floor and played with the three of them. "Well, I think Aiko has landed now." Caleb said, looking at the scoreboard again. "Yes, Aiko has landed. She's on her way to the baggage claim now." Stella said. "All right then. Shall we stand up then?" Sylvie asked. "It's going to be a while before she gets her bags and clears customs." Matt said. "She writes again... She'll let us know as soon as she clears customs." Stella said. "Okay, then we'll wait." Kelly said. "Are they coming now?" Layla asked. "Yes, Aiko is waiting for her luggage." Sylvie said. "And Elyas?" Kayla asked. "He won't land for 25 minutes." Caleb said. "For so long." Layla said. "Here...you, can take the signs." Sylvie said and took the self-made signs out of her bag. "Have I always been this impatient?" Caleb asked. Kelly, Stella, Matt and Sylvie looked at him. "I think that means yes." Andrew said, patting him on the shoulder. "So, Aiko has cleared customs now." Stella said. "What are we doing for dinner tonight?" Julian asked. "We thought we'd order something. We don't know how tired they are." Sylvie said. "Mommy, she's coming." Kayla called excitedly. The kids ran up to her and hugged her. "You've been eagerly awaited." Stella laughed. "How was your flight?" Matt asked. "Good. I stayed in London for 23 hours and then flew here." Aiko said. "OK. Then you're probably quite exhausted." Sylvie said. "A little." Aiko said. "Kayab, when is Eyas coming?" Benjamin asked. "He lands in 10 minutes." Caleb said. "We'll wait for your roommate and then we'll go home." Stella said. "OK. I've already talked with him." Aiko said. "Okay." Stella said. "Yes. The agency gave me his number." Aiko said. "Caleb you're lying." Layla said. "What did I say?" Caleb asked. "You said Elyas would land in 10 minutes." Layla said. "Yes. So?" Caleb asked. "The sign says it landed five minutes ago." Layla said. "Okay, so he just landed earlier. I couldn't know that." Caleb said. "I hope you have prepared yourself well. The next 12 month will be an adventure for you two." Kelly said. "I'm looking forward to it." Aiko said. When Elyas joined them, they went to the car. "Elyas, how was your trip?" Sylvie asked. "Very exhausting. We flew late in Bangkok and then I only had 2 hours to change planes in Munich." Elyas said. "Oh no. How much time would you have had without being late?" Caleb asked. "About 10 hours." Elyas said. "Ok. What was going on?" Matt asked. "I do not know. Something to do with the engine." Elyas said. "But you're here now and even a bit earlier than planned." Stella said. "Has it been hard for you to say goodbye to your families?" Andrew asked. "Yes, a little." Aiko said. "Me too." Elyas said. Kelly opened the trunk and stowed the suitcases, bags and backpacks of the two. "Is it okay if I tell my parents that I've arrived safely?" Aiko asked. "No not at all. Go ahead." Stella said. Both wrote to their families that they landed safely, were picked up at the airport by the whole family and are now on their way home.

Once home, Caleb helped unload the car and carry the luggage inside. "So. Welcometo your temporary new home." Matt said. "Thankyou." Elyas and Aiko said. "Doyou want to settle in first or should we give you a house tour first?"Stella asked. Aiko and Elyas looked ateach other. "You know what. Getsettled first." Kelly said. "Comeon. I'll show you yourrooms." Caleb said. Calebpicked up two bags and took them upstairs. "So,here's Aiko's room." Caleb said, opening one of the room doors. "Wow,so big?" Aiko asked surprised. "Yes,and in here is your own bathroom with shower and bath." Caleb said, opening the bathroom door. "Cool."Aiko marveled. 'We would leave youalone now so that you can settle in. If youneed anything, you let me know." Caleb said. "Ok. Thanks."Aiko said. Caleb and Elyas left theroom and Aiko unpacked her suitcases and bags. "So,this is your room." Caleb said, opening the door across from Aiko's room. "Wow. Also, very big." Elyas said. "Yes,and you also have your own bathroom with a shower and bath." Caleb said. "Cool."Elyas said. Caleb then left himalone to unpack. Caleb went downstairs andsat on the couch with the others. "I cantell you one thing. Theyboth love their rooms." Caleb said. "That'sgreat." Stella said. 20minutes later they both came back down into the living room. "Good. Wewould order something for dinner tonight. Areyou hungry?" Sylvie asked. Bothnodded. Caleb got the variousflyers and spread them out on the coffee table. "Youcan decide." Caleb said. Both optedfor pizza. "Good. ThenKelly will order and while we wait, we'll give you a house tour." Stellasaid. Stella, Sylvie, Matt andCaleb showed Aiko and Elyas around the house while the other kids stayed in theliving room and watched TV. "Wewould discuss everything with you tomorrow regarding the rules and your tasks, because today you will probably be too tired." Stella said. Afterthe house tour, they sat together in the living room, ate pizza and watched TV. Afterdinner, Elyas and Aiko went to bed as they were quite exhausted from thejourney.
