In the afternoon they drove together first to the little ones' school and then to Caleb's school. "Aren't they all in the same school?" Julian asked. 'No, Caleb is at Hyde Park Academy High School. Since he plays football and is often absent from class, the school has set up a special program for him so that he can do his homework either at home or where ever he is." Kelly explained. "Then he's playing at a higher level?" Andrew asked. "You could say so. He plays in the U16 national team, has training 3 times a week and otherwise plays every free minute.” Kelly said. "And when he's traveling with the national team, e.g., at World Cups or friendly games we watch the games on TV or if they play in Chicago we go to the stadium and support him there.” Stella explained. "Wait, the games are on TV?" Andrew asked, surprised. "Yes, you didn't know that. There are 6 or 7 channels that bring sports 24 hours a day, from kids between 10 and 18 years old.” Sylvie said. "Caleb checks regularly, especially before championship games, so he knows how the opposition is playing and what to look out for." Matt said.
As always, Caleb and his friends were one of the last ones, who left the school building. “C.J. You'll be picked up." Blake said. "I've seen it. I'll see you tomorrow." Caleb said, saying goodbye to his friends and running to the van. "Is there room for me anywhere in the van?" Caleb asked. "Try your luck." Matt said, opening the sliding door. "I told you guys we needed a bigger car." Caleb said as he squeezed into the back row. “Let's do it today. We're going to our new home first and then to the dealership." Kelly said. "I thought the house wouldn't be ready until tomorrow." Caleb said. "The agent called this morning and said we could view it today." Matt said. "Cool. Can we choose our rooms then?” Caleb asked. "One after the other. First, let's take a look. Then we'll see what's next.” Kelly said, turning into the driveway. The agent was already waiting for them. "Hello everybody. You're more than you told me.” the agent said. “Yes, we have unexpected growth. Is that a problem?” Matt asked. "No of course not. The house is big enough." The agent laughed and went in with them. "Wow." Caleb marveled as they entered the house. The agent led them from room to room. “The workers did a good job. I've had the house checked again by a specialist and I can tell you it's in perfect condition." The agent explained. “The house is already furnished.” Caleb remarked. "Yes, we had a few special requests. That’s why the house was renovated again." Matt explained. “But your rooms are still completely untouched. What do you think about going upstairs and choosing your rooms?" Kelly suggested. The kids didn't need to be told twice and ran upstairs. “You've got the rascals well under control. I know families who are already overwhelmed with one child.” the agent said. "Yes, sometimes we're surprised at how well we manage it." Sylvie said and at the same moment you could hear the kids arguing. "No, this will be our room." Layla called. "No, ours." Matty said. "And we're back to reality." Matt said and they went upstairs to see what was going on. Caleb, Andrew and Julian stood by the banister and watched the argument in amusement. "What's going on here?" Stella asked. "The little ones fight about who gets which room." Julian said. "Mommy, this is our room." Benjamin said. "No, that's ours, Mommy." Kayla said. "You four boys want a room together?" Sylvie asked. The boys nodded. "Well then I suggest the bigger room is for the boys." Stella said. Layla and Kayla crossed their arms and pouted. "You can have my room if you want. I'll take the smaller one." Caleb said. “No, you've had to slow down often enough in the last few years. You keep your room." Kelly said. "Have you guys even looked at the room?" Matt asked. The girls shook their heads. “Then look. The room isn't that much smaller." Matt said. "Yeah, you’re right. Sorry." Layla said hugging her little brother. After the house tour, the agent gave them the key and said goodbye. "So, shall we go to the dealership now?" Matt asked. "Shouldn't we go to the mall and get the boys new clothes?" Sylvie asked. “We can do both. I mean, it's only 2:30 p.m." Stella said. "Kids, what do you want? Dealership or mall?” Matt asked. "Can't we do both, first to the car dealership and then to the mall? Then we could have dinner there too.” Caleb suggested. "Okay, let's do it this way. Everyone gets in the car; we're going to the dealership.” Kelly said and the kids squeezed into the van. "When's your next doctor's appointment?" Caleb asked. "On Friday morning." Sylvie said. "Will you also find out what it's going to be?" Julian asked. "No, not yet. But probably next time." Stella said. "Kind of exciting." Andrew said. "It'll be even more exciting once you're officially adopted." Caleb said.
At the car dealership, they were advised by a competent employee. The new family van of the Severide’s is a dark blue 2022 Nissan Townstar 8-seater, the new family van der Casey’s is a sky-blue Nissan Townstar 2022 10-seater and then they also bought a red Nissan Townstar 2022 17-seater. After the car dealership, they drove to the mall. “Okay guys, you can look around for yourselves. We'll meet you at the check-out in 30 minutes." Kelly said. "Ok. Thanks Dad.” Caleb said and the 3 boys started running. 30 minutes later everyone met at the check-out again. "May we have a look at the Legos?" Julian asked. "Sure. You can choose whatever you want. Let me know when you're done." Matt said. "Are they always this easygoing?" Andrew asked. "It would be nice. They're usually pretty strict about stuff like that.” Caleb said. "Well then we're lucky." Julian joked. Caleb got a shopping cart and Andrew and Julian put in their favorite Lego sets. "You're a big Lego fan, aren't you?" Caleb asked. “Yes, our dad always bought us different Lego sets and we built them together. We also built our own models.” Andrew said. At that moment, an announcement sounded, which Caleb had guessed. “Attention please. Matty Casey is looking for his parents. He's waiting at the info point. I repeat, Matty Casey is looking for his parents. He's waiting at the info point." Caleb scratched his forehead. "I'll give you some good advice. If you go to the mall alone with Matty, put a bell around his neck or put him on a leash. Otherwise, he'll be gone before you can say his name." Caleb said. "Good to know." Andrew said. They went back to the others and Matt paid for everything. Matty was still upset and crying. They brought their purchases to the car and then went to dinner.
At home, they pack the newly bought toys into moving boxes. Caleb did his homework and then went to his room with Andrew and Julian and played some more video games.
